Charlie – do you remember the “impossibility” of going on a shoot without a sound-guy? “Ridiculous to compromise quality in that way – no-one can do a good job recording sound and picture”. How many times have you heard that one?
Or maybe you remember the absurdity of suggesting that shooters could edit their own footage? 10 years ago that was just plain common sense right? After all the skills are totally different.
Are you saying that only studios which use professional dedicated editors, lighting crew, sound guys, DPs, directors etc can produce a quality product? That is certainly a valid point of view but somewhat eccentric when talking about wedding video in 2006.
There are thousands of photographers and videographers who are realising that a product combining the best of photo and video into one presentation package can actually raise perceived quality (i.e. value/price).
The times are a changing Charlie. Always have been, always will be. Change is the only constant.

yes – I’m waiting until NAB before buying a new camera. A cheaper XH-H1 would be great, but its the R&D that costs not the parts – I wonder how much they could reduce the price for a version stripped of some of its broadcast features. Canon normally dont introduce camcorders at NAB – but still might see a drop in price on the current models.

For lighting Russ Lowel’s “Matters of light and depth” is a great resource written for both photographers and videographers. Skills relating to composition, interaction, anticipation and motivation also transpose seamlessly between the two crafts. The differences between the skills required for portrait photography and photojournalism are probably greater than the intrinsic differences between photo and video.

If the problem you are having is just with that one sequence/project then your solution would seem to be the best step

try moving the timeline and/or canvas to the other monitor –
could also try restarting with just one monitor

could it be a slow video card combined with 2+ monitors? I have to move the timeline off my HP LCD to get sequences to play smoothly in FCP5

Curtis – I’m looking for something like fCMS which allows a user to click on a flash page enter a password and then edit text and images on a webpage just like the would a word document – anything like this for html?
