  • Yes true you could open project files in notepad with v6.5.
It’s not recommended to run other apps while Premiere is open. This is a bit different in v2.0.

    Thanks

  • File size sounds correct. How is it? Is it stable? Fast? Responsive?

    Thanks

It’s not worth trying anything until the driver is released. The driver versions of RTX are always purpose designed to work with a specific version of Premiere.

    Not Bad.

Basically an AE project can be placed in a Premiere sequence and treated as a clip. Anything you change in AE is instantly updated in Premiere.

The shortcomings are that you still have to copy and paste clips from Premiere to use in AE and the render speeds, like all Premiere effects are a bit slow (it’s quicker to render in AE and import the clip).

However if your film despecking, masking, text animating etc it is a great step forward. Basically it bring AE features into Premiere. So Premiere now has:

    Tracking
    Beizer masks
    Timewarp
    Text animation
    Is resolution independant
    etc.

    Hi

I have looked at the Dell and the colour and luma levels are way off. This probably doesn’t matter cause you’ll be looking at a grade 1 CRT for the video anyway, however I think it’s better if every display device is as close as possible to being correct.

The Samsung panels have always been great, I had two 19″s. I then upgraded to 20″ displays and got the BenQ. I only got the two 2091s because that’s all I could get at the time cause one of the Samsungs had failed, however they were every bit as good as the Samsungs in colour and luma levels.

I have noticed that cheap LCDs, like the Dell 24″, are cheap for a reason.

You should check CPU usage. Then get Nucleo and rebenchmark.

February 1, 2006 at 3:17 pm in reply to: Which networks use Premiere Pro?

    Hi Tim

I think the off/online workflow is still relevant when it comes to editing on one system and finishing on another. A good example of this is Discreet’s Smoke and Flame workflow. When these systems create a subclip they have the option of creating new media, and this is the option most exercised as it saves a lot of redigitise time, which for the hourly rate of these systems quickly adds up.

At the moment we are looking at the potential for the Axio to replace a Smoke in one of these facilities. The integration with AFX makes this a real possibility because AFX has such a strong tool set. The let down is the media managhement because you need the ingest to happen quickly and without additional media.

So here we are talking about Premiere being used as a finishing system and not being used for the offline at all. It still needs better MM even if the whole job is not being done on it.

Actually what Premiere needs is the ability to complete MM tasks on the fly and in the background. When I create a subclip it creates a new file on the HD. When I render a section of the timeline it creates a new file and composites it over the top of the edit (what Discreet calls a hard commit). The ability to change the project settings independant from the media. The ability to access sequences and bins from other projects.

MM is a hard sell because it doesn’t make for slick marketing terms. However you should have a look at the Discreet website and the Smoke specs, it’s a worthwhile read.

    Thanks

    Fair comment Tim.

I would say that the MM argument is not solely off/online based. Its more about project consolidation and the cuurent method leaves your original project out in the cold. So there is work to do there, but you nailed it with the CMX analogy.

    Thanks

    Hi Bill

I knew you did as you mentioned PAE in the post. Fair comment though, I have seen a lot of bum advice before. No one can see if you’re wearing a novice hat when you type a reply:]

3GB is actually enough and there is no need to put in more. However it is worth checking with them. Where are you? Do you talk to Grant and the guys already? If not I can ask them and let you know.

    Thanks

    Paul
