    Hi Walter,

Amazing advice, thank you! Its so so useful… just want to clarify a couple of points for a not overly technical brain!

I normally convert to Pro Res using MPEG Stream Clip. Would i still be able to convert all footage to Pro Res on the PC using that?

I have googled some of the ways you mentioned being able to file share across the computers and think i understand the basics. Will do some more research in to it.

the exFAT does seem to be the simplest (i may well be overlooking something!) can i ask why you dont use it?

THanks again Walter, I really appreciate such comprehensive advice.

    Its so useful

    Hi Walter,

Thats great to know thanks… I think that seems like being the best set up for me…

DO you have any advice RE work flow or anything that you need to bear in mind when switching between the two?

How do you make sure portable hard drives are compatible across the two platforms?

Understood, unfortunately i often have to edit on location so would need to have a laptop to edit on.

Does anyone know if you can bring Adobe PP projects across from Mac to PC without too much hassle?

    Hi TOm,

THats what i was thinking of doing, using a Mac Book Pro for e mail and then getting a desk top PC to edit on.

Do you think i would have issues if i had Adobe Premier pro on both and wanted to edit projects on both the PC and the Mac?

Are you able to take them from one to the other?

I am happy with setting up Internet security software , defragging hard drives would this be the only difference or are more complicated things likely to occur?

    Hi Lewis,

THanks for your message. Would this still be the case if i got someone in to set it all up for me, I feel even the cost of this and then paying someone to check it over once in a while would still give me more for my money than a Mac?

THis will sound ignorant, (and is a genuine question) but what is likely to go wrong? I understand the basics of installing software, and used a PC for a long time before working in film… but am definitely not an expert.

    Hi Bob, Peter,

I am so sorry that i was out of the loop, have had a manic week.

So appreciate the advice, i will def have a look at that plug in.

No only was i filming at about 1/150 shutter but I did have the stabiliser on as well, which when thinking about it would make sense that the lens would try and correct the pan…

Thanks again guys, i really appreciate the advise and apologies for dropping out of the thread!

    Brad,

Apologies, you are probably sick and tired of me by now! I had to update to Snow Leopard to get Compressor 4.

However when i go to the settings for Blue Ray it seems to only allow me to go to a maximum of 17mbs?

How do it get it to 20mbs as you recommended?

Thank you in advance for your patience!

    Paddy
