I won’t actually be doing the Beta transfer, I’ll be going to a transfer house. However, I generally record onto a DV tape and go from there.

I suppose the transfer house are set at 0db right?

    Thanks.

Could you tell me what this reference tone means?

    The copy was PAL.

I think it’s either the length of my film (the standard French TV length: 52 minutes) or, more likely, the style.

What kind of documentaries do german people watch?

OR, a way to say “not interested”, even if the guy did point out it was an interesting subject.

That’s really funny! Well done. I’ll avoid saying anymore.

There are far too many subtitles, the film is 70 minutes. So I don’t want to spend hours copying and pasting.

Isn’t it possible to extract all text files on the timeline in one go?

Do you know which which tool I can use in Final Cut Pro to check my white levels? I have no experience in this field at all.

    Thanks a lot!

    Thanks for the response.

So do you think it’s related to my color levels?

I didn’t do the subtitles in any other program, there were done (& embedded) in FCP, but I did boost the saturation a bit for the whole film…
However, despite the “dirty” white of the subtitles, the picture was perfect.

    Thanks for the replies.

The problem is that I was just asking how long 52 minutes could be regarding minutes and seconds, not drop frames etc.

    Thanks for the reply.

I usually do the 16/9 conversion to 4/3 on the timeline, but what would a tv channel prefer to broadcast? This 4/3 conversion or a “native” 16/9 which needs stretching?
