Okej. I haven’t filmed anything else on that camera and don’t have any other .mpeg files. But otherwise my Ppro works fine, with qucktime files and .wmv files. Thats why I think it os the format .mpeg and Ppro that is in some conflict but hope i’m wrong!
Thanks so much to you all for trying to help!! 🙂

Hi, no i don’t think there’s anything wrong with my original file, it plays fine in Windows Media Player. It just doesn’t like to be imported to Premiere Pro. So maybe that’s just because of the .mpeg format. Loading the original project in which i captured the file would have been a good idea but that doesn’t work either unfortunately…

Thanks! I tried holding down the shift key like you said, but it didn’t help unfortunately… I’m not so keen to reinstall since i remember it beeing veru hard to install the program from the start. I have Ppro CS3 (for pc). Do you happen to have any idea about this thought my friend had that .mpeg + premiere may cause trouble together and so it is better to convert the file, in a software called Streamclip, that’s free.

I installed the software, but it doesn’t seem to like files over 4 GB a piec and i don’t know how to devide my file into smaller chunks since my whole problem is that i can’t open it in my editing program… oh… so complicated…

It was recorded on a Sony HVR-Z1 camcorder. I managed to import the file before, but not now. So strange and super annoying…

Thanks for trying to help Jeff! Yes thats right. I choose a HDV preset 1080i, (I think that is what I recorded at but am not totally sure) but then the program freezes and I have to close it down… But it doesn’t work…

Thanks very much for the tip! I can’t use CS4 on my computer, only CS3, not good enough unfortunately, but when I get a better computer and CS4, i’ll remember you tip! 🙂

    I’m on a Windows laptop.
    Core(TM)2Duo CP T7500 @2.20GHz
    4 GB Ram
I have one external harddrive that I previously only used for backup but now for the render files.
I make films of one to four minutes, with filmed hd footage
Quicktime or Windows Media files, and animate this sometimes, one film had 300 layers, effects etc.
I don’t know about the cpu-usage or memory usage, but will try to check this… although ofcorse I don’t know how to do that either… oh! 🙂
