    Danny,

    First, thanks again for your help. I ended up using:
    MPEG2
    1440x1080i High Quality
    Q=4

    and was very happy with the result. I will try your precise settings for the next iteration of my movie.

    By the way, the Butterfinger piece is sensational…great idea and beautiful quality of the filming/lighting and the rendering.

    Thanks!

    I am also having issues with Conforming files…in my first efforts to capture HDV footage from my Canon HV30 to Prem Pro v.3.2.0.

    I encountered Out of Synch issues after capture (I’m told, caused by dropped frames from tape defects or timecode breaks). Now, I’m trying to manually capture smaller segments (avoiding the timecode breaks) but am having Prem struggle with Conforming for a 32-min clip. It never finishes…s/w goes “Not Responding”.

    Are there any general recommendations for Prem CS3 users who want to capture HDV from their tape camcorders? Should we even try to create an HDV 1080i30(60i) project? Is it futile? Will something like HDVSplit remedy the situation?

    Thanks, in advance.
