Looks quite useful for many applications.
For example, recording and editing audio using Windows or Mac computers is a challenge for non-technically oriented people. Many of my clients who are doctors have an iPhone yet they struggle with doing audio recording on their computers. This could be a perfect solution.
It’s like QT Pro and the computer from Minority Report had a love child.

I have found that the Matrox forum in particular has great feedback from actual company employees.
In the consumer world, Best Buy has a forum on their site where people routinely gripe about customer service issues. And Best Buy management is said to read the boards and help people with serious problems. If you believe Best Buy management that is.

Ok I tried it – looks like it might have some function beyond party planning. But everyone you know of course has to be on it. Perhaps Google wants a piece of the 350 million user Facebook action?
Might be an interesting way to post replies to a forum thread.

In general, if you are hired as a freelance contractor, you are hired to do the work only. You are not part of the company that is selling the product, nor do you have a contract specifying your business relationship – or do you? – then you probably don’t have a leg to stand on. Many of these inquiries come down to a contract.

I watched the 7 minute “10 minute video” video – I guess Google Labs has proven the special relativity theory too!
Waiting for my invitation…hmm, hmm, hmm…la dee da dee do…still waiting…yawn…
Might have some uses for collaboration of projects, but once again we have the “clients may be reluctant to sign up for a google account” problem. You think I’m kidding?
With our proprietary wave-like system – call it ripple just to avoid any IP problems, we make the accounts. We can, for example, make 20 accounts instantly and just send people the login instructions. If google wants to make something with business application usage in mind, perhaps they could let me have the account, and then let me make user accounts for my team, without requiring people without google or wave accounts to sign up themselves.
That being said, I look forward to trying it out. Would be quite useful for block party planning or the first annual Creative COW picnic at Ron’s house. I’ll bring the potato salad. Tim, can you pickup a 300 pack of red 32oz cups. Steve, as the newest member, you’re bringing the booze.

Ron, good point about Google taking possession of private information. The fact that if you have “car” in a message you get an advertisement about cars means Google is storing your email contents somewhere besides your inbox. Maybe. In other words, do you want Google or any other provider storing the paper trail of your business?
There is a paid, ad-free business email service from Google, but who knows what is stored beyond your control?In my business, I certainly don’t want a 3rd party having access to proprietary information to my clients, thank you. These communications will stay within my control.

Somehow we keep adding heads at the top of the page, yet our heads don’t get any smaller. Of course, given the habit of video folks eating a lot of snack products, our tiny heads are planted on top of proportionally larger torsos.

We went through this a few years ago. We all started off with firstname@domain.com back in the mid-90’s. In the early 00’s we adopted the first_initial_lastname@domain.net. I was the last person to kill the old email address because of the perception of legacy contacts. However after a year of having all old email forward to the new email, it was clear that most of the forwards were spam. Once we shut down the old email permanently, our inboxes became much more manageable.
Today, the majority of SPAM we get are those phishing emails telling you to update your facebook or bank account information. The telltale sign of a fake email is one that is signed, “The Facebook Team” or “The Bank of America Team.”
Our email server flags suspected email to be deleted upon download into our local email software. Plus you can setup filters locally.
As for “change of address” messages. Best thing to do is send a change of address message to people you know, then just start emailing people you know with your new email address. Once someone replies to your new address, their own address books will be updated (but they will need to manually delete your old address).

I seem to recall that in making Be Kind Rewind, Michel Gondry rigged up a way to use the VHS camera depicted in the film to record the images depicted as the Sweeded films but recorded to some non-VHS format, and then used in the final film. So they made film look like video by using video.
If a client says “when can we do the filming?” I am not going to correct them, I am going to do all the filming they want with my video camera. Discussions of semantics are for forums and for beer drinking.
