No thats not the source footage. Thats a prores export of the source footage. Both images were taken at the same time. Its a screen shot of 2 open quicktime files.

The 5d source footage was a bit noisy but it didn’t look anything like this. The preview file in premiere pro looks good too. Its way worse when the file is playing.

Thanks Ivan, No effects were applied to the clips. These were 5d files. My comp settings were the Prores 422 output from Premiere. 100% quality. I’ve tried 24 bit and 48 bit. also render at maximum bit depth was checked. Its very strange looking. No problems if I export 444 but the color is a bit different.

  • Shane Ross thanks for the TIP. CS6 is no longer choppy on my MBP!

Thanks ernest. I realize if you replicate the values, then it will be the same. But did replicating those values put your ball on the 3 way that close to the center?

Same thing happens in the midtones. My point is I can take a scene from a DNG raw file and push it way further before this strong of a cast happens. It feels much better and I’d love to grade that way. Thats the one thing I like about colorist plugin vs resolve.

Heres an example of a neutral image and then a heavy color cast from minimal adjustment to the highlights. This is a prores 422 file from FCP :

Yea its v9. Is there not a setting for the sensitivity. I couldn’t believe how much easier it was with the DNG file. I could push the wheels about halfway before it really started to alter drastically.

Also, its just a ProRess 422 file convert from 5dmkii footage in final cut.

No Luts applied. I barley have to move the highlight wheel before I get a huge color cast! I have no idea why it does this.
