I have a Snow Leopard ‘Upgrade DVD’, because we bought a MBPro recently; would I be right to think I need another Full DVD to do a clean install?

It seems that the MainConcept Conversion Pack #2
https://www.mainconcept.com/site/index.php?id=21901

will enable us to “easily copy XDCAM EX footage (SxS memory card) to XDCAM HD / HD422 camcorders and decks (Professional Disc).”

Does that mean that my workflow below might be do-able? (I don’t have either deck or any experiencve of XDCAM discs…) > I mean, can the decks themselves do batch capture from FCP?

So if we had XDCAM disc deck could we in theory:

– copy the MainConcept transcoded to XDCAM disc
– make client review DVD with burnt in TC from XDCAM disc > DVD recorder
– client logs in Excel as usual
– we make FCP batch list from Excel as usual
– we import specific clips only from the XDCAM deck

Would the Sony PDW-F30 do it, or even better, the Sony PDW-D1?

Thanks for the positive affirmation! Now I won’t feel completely crazy when ‘going backwards’! (Another benefit, we can dub onto 184min tapes/DVDs – recycling old ones, yay! – so at least less fiddly than 60min miniDV tapes) Now I am loving my new workflow!

Hmmm… then it actually looks like it will be quicker to output the captured EX files via FCP back onto tape, making timecoded DVD for client simultaneously, then batch importing from the tape – workflow weirdness!

Hi Rick – do you mean using an XDCAM deck with discs in it from the larger XD cameras? Could the XDCAM EX deck with sxs cards in it do the same thing?
