I would wait it out a bit. Cubix is relatively cheap compared to full pc setup?

    Yes.

With the Y cable i mentioned.

After installation ups failed 🙂 but machine was working nice so i had to loose this ups unit
as its total power rating was to low. I have to see its numbers when i get to the office again.

In the end of the week i could make photos of the mentioned cable if interested.

I can not comment other gpus and power needs.

What i did with my 470, i just “merged” 2 cables in the middle.

So generally you have black wires and yellow wires going from one end to the other.

I i did cut one extra cable up and soldered 3 ends again together and
got one cable with extra power output.

Now i still have 2 gpu ports on motherboard but one splits half in the other end
and powers my 4000 and second slot for 470.

I agree that software could not make damage to your tape in normal conditions.

software just sends “play, stop, rec” etc

controlling the mechanics and running it is more vtr’s internal controller business
    if you look generally.

i have seen this with beta sp. i had unit that failed with large 90 minute tapes.
controlling computer just did send command “rewind” and all went haywire.

i can not imagine how soft could affect hardware firmware or controllers etc.

can you test an other unit or different machine controlling it ?

do you have the same results with media express ?

usually resolve uses only one card for processing and first one for gui.

    so it states 1 card

    Depends where you are at.

In europe memory is cheap. 24 gig is around 240 €

I would go for 24 if money is not limiting here.
    Specially for other apps.

are you sure you have MAC version of 4000 ?

also try to swap gpus in lanes.

some machines need them to be swaped.

those are the two cards that apple officially supports.

if you are product maker you have to comply with supported platform.

you can put what ever to your machine but BM can not suggests that for legal reasons for starters.

so you have to decide what way to go. you just know what is supported and to what extent.
