Whoops! Never mind! I clicked “Read Only” on the wrong P2 CONTENTS folder. Thank you anyway!

RE: multiple sequences on the timeline: I just did an update this morning. It happened before the update, and after the update.

RE: page up and page down – the tracks WERE selected. And when I re-mapped the keyboard, it worked fine with the new shortcuts. So I guess I should just shut up and keep editing!! Meantime, I checked my job-share partner’s computer. Same thing. (She also did an update this morning, but she says she doesn’t know if it worked before the update or not.

Thank you Vince. It would be great to, at least, get to the bottom of the multiple timeline issue. I am grateful for your help.

@ Brian – sorry it’s taken me so long to respond. We fill up our P2 card because we have a card designated just for b-roll. We’re still in SD, and we don’t shoot a lot, so when the card is filled we archive it onto BluRay discs. I understand you can back up the cards by creating different folders. But the discs are pricey, so we want to fill them as much as we can.

Oh, wait …. I get it … the question that I posed in my previous post about losing the link when I overwrite the card … THAT’S the test you suggested. Got it. I’ll try, and get back to you. Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for responding — and so quickly. Really — you can’t know how grateful I am.

Thanks for the tip about Imagine Products. Looks like it only works with HD files, and many of our projects are still in SD. But I’ll definitely look into it.

OK — so you’re saying to import the P2 card to our hard drives OUTSIDE the project folder, and injest into various projects from there. That way, several projects could have access to that particular import. Got it.

So, your suggestion is, when clips are added to the card, simply re-import the card to the exact same place, overwriting the previous import. But won’t this break the connections to that media from projects in progress? Is it a simple thing to re-link? (Obviously I’m new to Premiere. I’m coming over from Avid by way of FCP…and I’m afraid I don’t know any of them very deeply.)

    Thank you again, Alex.

I forgot to mention … I’m using CS5 on an HP workstation running Windows 7, 64 bit. Thanks

Yes, I’ve found that that does work. Thank you Kevin. It’s just such a pain to have to take the extra step of transferring from the BluRay disc to an attached hard drive. The transfer takes about 20 minutes. And it kind of makes me cranky because it all worked fine before we upgraded to MC5/Win7!!

Thank you so much for your reply.

January 20, 2011 at 12:27 pm in reply to: P2 cards on BluRay Issues

    Hi Shane …

Thanks so much for your reply …

I did copy the CONTENTS folder and “last clip” from BluRay to a SATA drive. At first, it didn’t work – same issues as BluRay. Then, I downloaded Roxio Creator 2011 (updated for Windows 7.) I didn’t think this would make a difference since I had been able to perfectly read and import Quicktime media on BluRay. But it DID make a difference (although I still don’t know why!!)

So, now, I able to read and import the P2 media from the SATA drive – and I know that the data on the BluRay isn’t corrupt. So that’s good!!

Today’s experiment: Burn the p2 media back onto a BluRay — but this time, I’ll put the CONTENTS folder and “last clip” into it’s own folder, instead of burning them directly onto BluRay. I’m told that this might fix the problem.

    Thanks again!

    -Lori
