I find myself in a similar situation, where we shoot very high quality media with 4-5 cameras, on a studio.
But instead of usual video files, I have MXF on my hard disk (I expected high quality of DNx files). It’s been a while since my last project as AE, and after having the files at Avid MediaFile/MXF/1 (on the folder I’ve created by after importing demo file), the MXF won’t show in my project.
Now I see that when importing a demo file into avid it created a folder “Creating” and I wonder if this one and the other files: msmFMID.prm and msmMMOB.mdb are necessary for this, as my HD did not include any of this, and only MXF’s.

    Thanks again,
    Lena.

    Hello all,

    Thanks for this helpful post.
Shane, just to make sure, first I transcode (for Offline) and than do multigroups/grouping and than make it Online?

    Thanks,
    L.

The project is to be on the web.
I think maybe in export because it’s not so high end, do it in a better quality.

    Shane,

My editing teacher told me to always import… so nope… have to batch import them all… OMG.. what does that mean?
wait, can’t I transcode them as they are?

I shot with two cameras of cannon DSLR and EOS M

[Lena Gregorian] “was not transcoded yet. the online I want to do in avid – color correction. ”

[Yes, it was. The source is H.264, the footage in the Avid is XDCAM…transcoding happened. ODD transcoding…but transcoding nuntheless. By odd, I mean, very odd format to choose to offline edit in].
    – you definitely blew my mind here…

    Hi Shane,

Perhaps a mistake have been made and the sync was made with link to AMA clips and imported sound.

Is there a need to fix it?

perhaps after offline editing, will it harm the online process?

    Hello Again,

another question about the AMA work flow.
working with two hard disk (HD A and HD B).
I started with HD A and linked to AMA, and had the synced sound and video.
the client gave me HD B (more space), and asked me to put the whole project there

I took all the MXF files from A copied to B.

then pulled out HD A, and the files went OFFLINE (ofcourse).
I try to RELINK the files to HD B – didn’t work. (will it helf if I copy all the rushes to disk B?)

Is there a way to change it or to keep working with both HD?

I also transcoded to HD B the synced clips (but it goes offline without HD A.

    Thanks!
    Lena

    Hello Michael,

in transcode: Raster dumentions: Project dimensions (without proxy) – the defoult option
in target video res. I choose: h 264 800 kps proxy MXF

after i done editing, choose the seq. and bring it online by transcidung again (yes?)

so you think from what you say, it’s good to go.

should I keep source’s frame rate or convert to project frame rate (something that you choose)

    thank you!
    Lena
