I didn’t explain well, ben. I don’t want to hold a frame. I want to create a key frame that will hold a transformation until I want to change it. Like you can in after effects and premiere. Instead of a little diamond shaped one it’s square one in those apps. Fcp doesn’t make keyframing easy!

Thanks. I think I’ve solved it. I have to open the multilayered psd so that it looks like a project with multiple layers and then I have to save those layers as a compound clip. Then I can open it, work with it, etc. Tho I repeatedly save new compound clips of my work, because I’m sick of losing everything!

The “audio track” is from a magnetic film track. FCP reads that track as 24 p.

The video track has been transferred from film negative and FCP reads that track as 23.98

I’m having some synching problems.

Is that the cause?

If it is, what do I do?

Believe me, these two are supposed to go together. They’ve been rescued and are over 40 years old.

They will open just fine in VLC and they are blue. They are very very blue in color. Does anybody know how I can rescue these movie files?????

In After Effects you can make a special keyframe that holds until you make another keyframe to change something. You can also copy and paste keyframes.

In FCP I don’t see any way to do either of these things and I’ve looked.

I’m on an imac retina 2017 quad core intel 64 gigs memory running Ventura

I’m using AE 23.1.0

I found some handy advice on Youtube that helps a little but not always:

only use mercury software, not GPU & don’t render multiple frames.

I see that AE uses 88% of the 64 gigs of memory. So I don’t try to run anything else while rendering.

HI, Ben! So, if I cut the frame out, it won’t affect the music?????? Because that’s what worry about.

I have some bad footage which I’m dealing with in various ways. One problem is these occasional frames with noise. Can I substitute a copy of the NEXT frame for the bad frame using “save frame” for the good frame, will that work? Or is there a better solution?
