Excellent… This worked great! Thank you so much.

A couple more questions, if you’re willing… How can I get the opacity transition to happen or ease a bit more gradually (so it’s not so harsh)? Also, how difficult would it be to apply this same idea to scale and bluriness of the fast blur effect?

I’m sure I could figure these others out with some tweaking, but I just don’t understand exactly what this expression is doing (what does toCompVec or Math.cos(degreesTRadians),1.0,0,100 mean?

Thanks, but not sure exactly how to apply this. Do I just apply it to the opacity of my individual layer?

It gave me an error when I tried, said “invalid numeric result (divide by zero?)” or something.

There is a much more simple way to do this than what you are trying. All you have to do is apply the write on effect to a solid layer and copy and paste the position keyframes from you airplane layer to the brush position of the write on effect controls. The write on effect is very similar to the stroke effect, except it relies on position data to draw the line instead of a mask or path.

Thanks! That worked great. I tweaked it a bit to match my needs. The only thing that doesn’t work is that the layer won’t change it’s position if it is parented to another layer, so, instead of parenting the text to the ball layer, I parented the ball to the text layer. This causes the expression to work.

It didn’t work. I’m not good with expressions at all, so I don’t understand what the problem is, but I can’t get it to work.

You said to parent the “+” text layer to the ball, then past the first exression into the opacity of the “+” layer, right?

If that is the case, it doesn’t work.

Oh, how would I do it without the opacity changing?
