Thank you for the assurance! I was beginning to worry that I might have to format and re setup my computer from scratch…
I’m working on 5-10 second compositions but a lot of motion graphics, layers, effects, and AI files. I’m pretty new to AE and so I don’t get what you mean by doing “very little computation with a whole lot of footage involved.” Could you give me a scenario as to what this may look like? Not sure if I fall into this category lol.
Also, could you recommend me a performance monitor software/app where I am able to monitor my disk usage?
Thank you Walter.

I’ve been doing some research in the meantime and was also looking into DNXHQ and see it as a very viable option for me.

January 2, 2019 at 7:17 pm in reply to: AE Composition Screen Freezes After Certain Actions…Hi,
I ended up finding the issue.. which is baffling that this caused all of these AE related issues…
First, I found out that my dual monitor caused these issues. Then I found out that using a program called Sonic Suite caused these issues as well. Deleted Sonic Suite and everything works fine~!

December 14, 2018 at 7:58 pm in reply to: [Newbie Question] Editing Longer Animations WorkflowTo add to this, I’ve got some help in regards in this question on another forum.
The person said:
Every shot, or at least every sentence or phrase in the narration, should be a separate composition. You need to learn how to work with shots and then you edit those shots together using something like Premiere Pro to finish longform projects. My average After Effects composition is less than seven seconds.
I replied with:
I suspected that I might need to take these separate scenes into PR but how would I go about adding the necessary transitions into 2 different scenes? What if I need to use AE to create the transition? How would you work around this problem, sir?
If this is the right way to go about creating a long (3-5 minute) animation video, how do I learn to combine all these scenes together IF I need AE to create the transition itself? I hope this makes sense.

Okay, I understand.
Thanks for all your help, I guess I gotta make best with what I have..

Also, I haven’t used Render Garden yet (I’ve bought it tho because I know it’s useful), but I thought that program only helps to do final renders of videos? Does it help with pre-rendering scenes as well?

Is there a specific reason why you would not reccommend it..? I’ve not heard of anyone telling me I shouldn’t when I can get it to 5.0 GHz at all 8 cores on a stable temp… I do have render garden already but I am looking to just speed up the overall workflow of AE…
Your comment does not make any sense to me as I don’t see the cons to overclocking at stable temps. I’m fine if my CPU longevity is decreased because of this.
Please clarify your comment sir~
