    Hi Eli.
Yes, I believe they do only work under XP. (Well at least the earlier versions).
I’ve only used them using an old XP laptop, but I’m pretty sure somewhere earlier in this thread someone tried updating using windows 7, but they had to eventually dig out an old xp machine.

    Regards,

    Julian.

    Hi Duc.
I’ve never had the v1.02 update file.
I think you should be ok to use the 1.05 version, which uses the same install process, and then continue up from there.
The install method changes slightly at v1.20

Did you try going to 1.05?

    Regards,

    Julian.

    Hi Eli.
To tell you the truth I don’t really know.
I remember having issues upgrading a camera a (long) while ago and the Sony dealer I was going through said there was an earlier version of motherboard, and to try the “old” version of firmware.
If I recall the problem turned out to be something else, so I never needed it.
Every camera I’ve done since then I’ve used the normal version, and I think we have fairly early cameras.
It’s really only on there for completeness.

    Regards,

    Julian.

    Hi Eli.
Sorry, I missed your previous message.
I’ve sent you a dropbox link for all the firmwares.

It’s interesting to hear about being able to go straight up to v1.30
It always seemed a bit of a “failure” that you had to go through the process of upgrading incrementally.
All the cameras I look after have been upgraded to fairly recent version, so I can’t try it out.

    Regards,

    Julian.

    Hi Davina.
I’ve sent you a dropbox link.
You should be able to go back to v1.05, and then increment up to the later versions.
There’s installation information in each folder and if you follow those you shouldn’t have any problems. The install method does change at v1.20, so read the install notes beforehand.
Finally, I’ve only got the windows upgrade files, and also it only seems to work with windows XP.

    Good luck.

    Julian.

    Hi Tariye.

The only cameras we use here are the older EX1 models.
I’ve just taken a look on the Sony (UK) site and the latest version for the EX1R is v1.30 dated 18th May 2012, the same date/version as the EX1 version.
However, I don’t know whether the two are exactly the same.

If you’re already on a later version of firmware (say 1.20 or higher) then I think you should be able to go straight to the EX1R v1.30.
You should be able to download that version straight from Sony.
If not let me know and I can add the EX1R version to my dropbox folder.
I don’t have any previous versions for the EX1R though.

    Regards,

    Julian.
