FCP will just display the video letterboxed on the screen. You’ll get a small black bar above and below the video.

The Dell 24″ also has component inputs, and will do the same if fed a 1080i signal directly into it. You could also stretch it if you want.

I have a pair of HP L2335’s – which are 23″ 1920×1200 monitors. I’ve never noticed any latency. Whomever said that must be crazy. The only time I could perhaps conceive that would be a monitor with extremely slow analog to digital circuitry and you’re using D-SUB (VGA) to hook up the monitor. If that ever happened, those days are long over.

The Dells are really good monitors; not all of the monitors they sell, but the 24″ ones are good.

Ohh I bet that’s it. I usually stripe tapes before I used them so this doesn’t happen so much but on this occasion, I didn’t have the time and I had someone that’s not that great at using a camera on the 2nd unit and he probably messed up.

I’d only been capturing from the tapes from that camera, so I bet that’s it.

Do you know what happens when this happens? Meaning, will FCP just continue the timecode itself or will the clip be screwy if I just ignore the TC breaks and warn after capture?

I don’t care about the timecode on the tape, really. I just want the entire tape captured out to FCP.
