archive.org in general has a ton of stuff. They have “The Execution of Mary, Queen of Scots” video I’ve been seeking (depicts the first ever special effect and is believed to be the first film to use professional actors), but the quality is too low to include in a video.

I would go with Getty, though as LOC doesn’t make copies or act as a stock agency. Getty is your best bet, but check all the other stock agencies, too. You are looking for “historical,” “archive,” possibly “black & white,” or something along those lines. What, specifically, are you looking for?

Nowadays you can find a converter from one lens type to just about any other. There are so many lenses released all the time for photo use, it can be confusing.

All of Peachpit’s eBooks contain the same content as the print copies. In terms of media content, you should find a link within the first or last few pages of each eBook that will direct you to the media files. Often eBooks open to the first page of the first chapter, and you must scroll back several pages to get to the front matter where the URL is located. For more current titles, you can locate the URL after the index.
Some other helpful tips:
If you are able to search the book, search for “Where are the lesson files?”
Go to the very last page of the book and scroll backwards.
If you are using a Kindle device or an iPad, it will not be able to access the files directly, but entering the URL into a computer with web access will allow you to get to the files.
If you are using an iPad to access your eBook, it is possible that your display settings will cut off part of the URL. To make sure this is not the case, try reducing your font size and turning your iPad to landscape view. This should cause the full URL to appear.Jonathan Ziegler

Um, sounds like a question for the publisher. Check their website, they usually have the content available for download there, just look up your book – the address will be in the colophon or masthead or copyright/publisher info.

No the problem is that it is saving the quality percentages and such in the action which will give different file sizes for different files – the actual act of setting to a specific file size is a delicate balancing act in the software and not that simple to script. I would look hard at the quality numbers, bit depths, color palettes, compression numbers, etc. Can you post the offending files? This is all speculation unless we can see the file.

Your reasons seem pretty solid – are they still not convinced? Look for a camera that is better suited to the task at hand and find all the reasons that camera will work (not the reasons the 7D won’t work).
Get them to rent some 7Ds with lenses for a shoot or something (whoops, no sync? short takes only? crappy HDMI out?). Once they work with them for a shoot, they will realize why they shouldn’t use them for events. I’ll agree with the EX1 and EX3, the Panasonic 170 and 200 (haven’t tried the 250), and a few of the others on the list. I strongly recommend your company rent some cameras before buying so you can test them in real-world situations and consider running rented cameras along side your current cameras so you can get a comparison since there will be a learning curve that will cost the company money.

I would lose the light table and the under lighting. You can keep it, but I find jewelry looks better without it. Also, you are using diffuse light. To really catch the sparkle, you need to use direct lighting – consider getting some cheap honeycomb (10 or 20 degrees or so) for the direct lighting. Also, lose the cube. I’ve had one of those for years and I love it, but I don’t care for it with jewelry – it’s good for a certain look to jewelry, but you are having trouble with the setup and weird shadows – the shadows are most likely because the rest of your light is stronger than your under lighting – try one light at a time and see where the shadows and highlights go for each then combinations. If you can’t kill the shadows, try repositioning lights, lose one, then another, etc. Finally, try a more contrasted background – use a dark background (black, dark grey, blue, red, green). I have dozens of fabric bits I use for photos.
Can you send a couple test photos along? Try one with jewelry and one with something colorful like a Rubik’s cube or something similar.
