I have a feeling that Encore won’t burn a dual layer BluRay project
https://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b58cdf/0 in which case we’re limited to about 20 to 30 minutes of video.

In one of the other threads I’ve read, it was emphasized that it was necessary to update the firmware of the BluRay player to allow the .iso to play. That particularly applied to the BDP-S300 I used at a local Best Buy to check my various attempts.

    That might help.

    Phil,
I don’t have a dual layer dvd burner, nor do I know if IMgBurn supports that, but that would be a great experiment for you, if you have the burner.
In the interim, some guys worked out a way to edit the BluRay folder files so I could get a full BluRay project play menus and all on a PlayStation3. I made a brief tutorial about it (at the bottom of the list here) jmrser.com which may be helpful. I never could get the .iso file to play on the PS3, but the edited folder will play on the Sony BSP-S300 as well as the PS3. I’d be interested in what you think.

You could try this tutorial Subpicture Highlights at jmrser.com.Once you change from automatic color sets (go to menu – edit subpicture highlights), you have two possible color sets each with three colors (each one denoted in the highlight button name =1,=2 etc) for the selected state and activated state. Just click on the color and set each one there and also adjust the opacity.
I think you can only use one color set at a time per menu.

Thanks so much for checking that out. It works for me now also. The only thing I did was defrag my computer.
    Thanks again,

    Ron,
I am running xppro sp2 on a P4 intel processor 2.4 with 2 gigs of ram.
    Flash is the latest version.

Maybe somebody at the COW could play the tutorial and see if it plays or not. If you can play it all the way through, then it’s my problem and and I’ll try to work it out on this end. All the other tutorials he does play perfectly.
    Thanks,
    John

  • One (and maybe the only way in Encore, although I’d never say that) way would be to use a system of multiple menus and auto-activate. There are several tutorials around about this if you’re interested. You need the same number of menus as buttons on your main menu.

June 7, 2008 at 2:53 pm in reply to: HELP! Transcoding mess in Encore CS3

    Jeff,

This thread bears on the problem https://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@522.xAajiym9TiE@.3c055bd9.

Basically, in my version of ENcore CS3, if I burn a SD folder using and AVI created by Cineform using ENcore’s automatic transcoding, after the burning, the AVI now shows up in the Project window as “Don’t Transcode”.
However, if I burn a BluRay folder using an AVI, and having Encore encode as PCM (per the above link), the AVI assets in the project window still show up as “Untranscoded” after the burning.
Based on this, I would think that the SD burning works ok, but there is something wrong with the BluRay burning “module”.
I didn’t understand the idea about it being related to the bit rate of the burning, but this may solve the problem.
“So – anyone with MPEG-2 files they believe to be compliant that Encore insists on retranscoding, check the true peak bitrate and add this in to your project settings (Advanced) for Maximum Audio/Video Bitrate.
I wager the total is higher, hence the re-transcode.

    EDIT.
I took the offending file that kept demanding to be re-transcoded, and did it outside of Encore using a standalone MPEG-2 encoder, same as before. This time I dropped the CBR Bitrate from 6500 to 6000, and when I imported this back into Encore, it did not want to re-transcode.
    So it’s proved IMHO.
Please let me know if you guys come up with an answer.

I just got a BD-RE to play perfectly on my PlayStation 3.

Interestingly, I had the same problems with button routing that Warren described (always landing on the same menu button and no moving forward on return).

In addition, I couldn’t get any kind of button routing work when I used chapter markers, so I had to use separate timelines.
