When setting an in/out and want to put video only, audio only, or both in the timeline, use this:

Shift+1 = Video and Audio
Shift+2=Video Only
Shift+3=Audio only

I’m not sure if we have a high number of users, but I’m convinced than a number of our users are high. (sorry, couldn’t resist!).

We’re pretty happy with our shared system for now. There’s room for improvement but like I said in the tutorials, keep your custom trannys and effects in sync and you won’t hit too many snags. I think what we’re looking for now are future updates and tweaks to make X just run better in general.

We’re working with NAS shared systems, not SAN. Jeremy probably has better information than me in that regards.

The file organization problem is a curse upon our generation. We keep Media in a single folder and then subfoldered to specifice networks, and then subfoldered there into specific projects. We then have another folder for ‘clients’, which contains everything non-media related (scripts, logs, creative briefs, etc). Once everybody is on board with it, that helps tremendously.

Now in terms of project management, we have come to embrace…the REMINDERS app! We have shared reminders (you can invite specific users to share it with you) so that all members of our team receive alerts when an important action is required at a specific time, etc. We have a reminder list of current projects, invoices due (with dates), random office work, long term and short term goals (get a new RAID drive, for example), and pretty much lists for anything you can think of. Different lists can have different subscribers so that some people aren’t privy to personal lists.

Everybody ignores the reminders app, but it’s more powerful than it looks.

Don’t double click it, just hit space bar and better snap resize the preview window. This will allow you to use the up and down keys to cycle through them.

Instead of going ‘officially’ full screen. You could install better snap tool, make the space bar preview fill the screen (you drag a window to the the top and it fills up the available space on screen, but not full screen) and then up and down arrows on your keyboard will automatically go between them.

Or you could probably just drag everything into iMovie in a window and just play back all of them full screen in a sequence.
