  • Yep.. they will answer… and, even if they seldom speak english well enough to understand what you are asking…it does feel good for someone to answer and likely to read some pre-composed script that may or may not answer your problems.

Not to pick on Adobe only… AVID has the same issue….as well as most customer support areas for almost every software application on earth.

Adam has a point… I believe you are trying to make a decision base on information that really doesn’t exist when it comes to FCPX. If want to make a change… with good (and current) information… consider upgrading from FCP to Adobe or AVID.

“Premiere still has a bunch of deficiencies – no delivery codec,…”

Well… PPro doesn’t doesn’t have it’s own codec… but, a nicely priced 3rd party vendor has a codec that also works VERY well with AVID (and still works with EOL FCP)… it is called Cineform – NeoScene.

    https://www.cineform.com/neoscene/

In fact, I am surprised that PPro hasn’t bought the company. In fact, It’s capabilites exceed ProRes and Avid’s XMF… and makes working with H264 a very nice experience regardless of editing application (except FCPX).

Curious to see how quickly Apple will get this version of a video critical of Apple shut down… the first one took about 18 hrs. on Vimeo… it seems their life is a bit longer on Youtube.

  • What do you think would be a fair price to pay for an OMF export?

Should have been included in the original price…

The way FCPX was brought out… it appears to be a closed system and dependent on outside vender to make it work with other editing applications. AVID tried this back in the old days and it almost bankrupted them…and, FCP stole AVID’s market share.

It appears to me… that Apple’s “new” marketing approach is simply AVID’s old closed/propriatory marketing approach… and, AVID’s old marketing approach did not work at all.

  • Yep… It’s official…

The real cost to get FCPX to “sort of” work is about $900 – surprize.

Someone over at Automatic Duck is kissing someone over at Apple “full on the lips”….

There is legality and then there is common sense… seldom do the two merge…

I don’t see a lot of common sense being used by Apple in this situation.

Apple’s PR needs to go look up PR 101 rules…

…never censor critism… it will only make the situtaion worse.

FCPX backlash just keep getting worse… IMHO.

ya know what I dislike more than just dumb marketing mistakes…

    – Censorship

The cc issue is pretty weak…
