the other thing is i shoot left eyed so i cant even use the hoodman loupe. ive tried it on an r and it was great, but thats only when i shot handheld, if i went to a tripod, i would hit the side of the cam with my left side. ill just have to get used to looking at an lcd instead of the vf all the time.
i still cant believe that, for a 6300.00 camera, the vf isnt at least usable.
are you guys using the reliable sxs or the sdhc cards?

im coming from shooting dsr300 cams. shoulder mount, great vf, good in lowlight.
i dont want to go w/another shoulder mount, the 320 is nice, but its 12k without sxs.
ive looked hard at the ex1r and ex3. love both, wish the ex3 was is kinda shoulder mount/and handheld, but you really need a shoulder adaptor. so i was leaning to the ex1r. of course handholding it is a pain. i found cradling it with my left hand and using lcd is the easiest or using monopod when shooting receptions.
my big thing is adjusing to shootin ontripod using the lcd instead of what im used to . the vf on the r is useless for the most part.input welcome.
i considered the nxcam since its got a longer smoother zoom but i would think the lowlight is not as good even though i obviously would be using an on cam light with it -
i know it wont be same as the 300 but its alot lighter and less expensive. my main thing is that it wont still be front heavy and i can shoot for extended times on the shoulder and im hoping it wont feel awkward where youre having to keep shifting it until it works right.
im in no position to buy the 320 at 3600.00 more. besides, i want a lighter camera thats more versatile.
i was planning on renting an ex3 here. not sure olof would let me try out his unit for a weekend. this way i will know if its worth buying or not. i guess i will have to see if its worth a sale for him to let me try it.

it looks nice, seems that some of these mounts, the foam rubber pads, which are the types that you peel paper off and stick on…they dont retain the comfort over time as the pad is pretty thin.

thanks ronnie, do you find it still slightly front heavy with this or does it feel comfortably balanced for long shooting times like our 300s

go to exmount.com and westsideav.com, the westside is very well built and gives a nice balance for a reasonable price. he has ex3s himself and hes very flexible on what you need

my main question on the exmount is, when you put a battery on the back, in my case i would use the ab dionics, is everything balanced well and does your eye easily match up with the eyepiece as it would on a true shoulder mount. and more importantly can you comfortably shoot as you can with a normal shoulder mount for long periods.
im left eyed and the ex3 works for me but the problem with the other mounts , you have to move it around and adjust your head/eye to make it be comfortable.
how much does it cost?

are you using a shoulder brace with yours? are you shooting long periods with the cam as it is on the shoulder. thats the main reason i tried this because the lens is lighter and balances the camera better. the one mount im looking at the exmount.com, isnt cheap and its an overseas company.not to keen on that -
How can the lowlight on the 1/2 inch ex3 be worse than the pd170. ive shot with both,the PD is excellant in lowlight for a 1/3 inch camera,but the ex3 is clearly better with the 1/2 chips.
ive heard some nx5s have a backfocus problem and can be a bit soft. are you having this problem?
i was going to get the ex3, but coming from shooting a dsr300 for 12 years, im going with the pmw320 and probably the nx for my b cam and shoots that i dont want to pull out the shouldermount 320. -
true it is heavier than the ex1r, but much lighter than what i have been shooting with the dsr300. i shoot at waist level with that camera alot, so the ex3 should be no problem.
is the zoom 14x on the 3?
