Just a guess: If you are trying to render an imperfect sphere, deselect “Render Perfect” in its Object Properties. Otherwise you need to provide more information, such as uploading your project file, or providing a screenshot of your Objects menu.

Glad to help. Thanks for reporting back.

July 19, 2018 at 9:49 pm in reply to: Fail to change color of layer Emitter in Trapcode ParticularGreat. I’m glad you got it worked out, and thanks for letting me know. It’s odd that your version of Particular isn’t automatically using the layer color when a layer emitter is used. I guess that’s something they changed with the updates.

Hi Centaine,
You made the Helix a child of the Circle. It needs to be a child of the Sweep.

Since the emitter is moving, and emission is all a matter of particles per second (or frame), there is naturally going to be a larger distance between particles. And since the particles are no longer controlled by the emitter once they have been emitted I think the only way to get a similar particle density (in what has essentially become an elongated emission area) is to increase the birthrate. The emitter is always relative to the null, but it’s the emitted particles which are not.
Just thinking about a scenario where the emitter and its particles are separate from the world hurts my brain, but I’m old and slow (and I am certainly not an X-Particles expert), so perhaps a brighter mind will prevail. Please post if you find an answer elsewhere.
Good luck.
Edit: Perhaps you could work out an XPresso set-up that linked birthrate to emitter velocity.

Hi Kedar,
If you are referring to the softbox lights from the Visualize > Presets in the content browser, they are controlled by XPresso setups.

In order to keep the illumination, but disable rendering the light source itself, select the Softbox in the Objects menu and deselect “Render Plane Only” in the SoftBox_Controls settings. In the same settings, “Render in Scene” controls whether the stand and other physical elements of the softbox will render, so uncheck that as well.

Yes it is. But that’s a pretty wide-open question. What are you trying to do?

It wasn’t as obvious in my first screenshot, but here you can see the affect of reducing the Radial Bias on the distance horizontally between revolutions. In the left image the bias is 50% and the revolutions are equally spaced. In the right image the bias has been reduced to bring the lower revolutions closer together and the higher ones further apart.

July 16, 2018 at 9:25 pm in reply to: Fail to change color of layer Emitter in Trapcode ParticularAnother thought, if you have an older version of Particular, is that you might have to select “Layer” under the Set Color setting of the Particle (Master) section. In mine that setting is greyed-out when a layer (or layer grid) is used as an emitter. I would think that yours was the same, but check it just in case it is controlling the particle color.
