Great job! I am thinking I am going to go with external media. As I organized that way previously. It would be awesome if you did a tutorial on cutting a music video in fcpx 10.1, like syncing audio with the shots, stutter effects etc, that’d be awesome!

Hey David! That is a great idea, now do i organize all of this inside final cut, or the finder window on my mac (outside of fcpx)? as far as naming the angles folders, etc.

Agree bill! I love fcpx, just been getting into it! Question for Sam and the experienced fcpx Gods… So say I have 20 clips shot for a music video, 15 of them are the band singing the song all the way through and 5 of the clips are 1 minute clips of part of the song, how does the “synch” feature work with all these to the actual WAV file of the song? Right now I’m just dragging and lining up the clips to the song which is working but takes a while… Anyways, any suggestions are highly appreciated!

Thanks a lot Sam! Worked excellent! If you have any other tips for music video workflow let me know. I’m just dropping the wav file in and cutting around it.

Gotya, so i will just drag it to 100% (from the 40% it conformed it to) after I conform so it plays normal but still has the 24p conform. Thanks guys!

Hey Oliver and Jeff, and after I drag the 60 fps into 24 fps timeline and hit “conform”, how would I get the 60 fps footage to be normal speed again But still having 24fps look? (since “conform” slows it down to 40%)?

Yea.. i hearya Oliver, and not to sound like a broken record (just trying to understand this…) if i want slow motion, i set up a project in FCPX to 1080p 24fps, then shoot the footage at 24fps, and then shoot separete clips for slow motion at 60fps, drag that into the timeline, click “conform” (right?) and then…? Thanks for putting up with my questions 🙂 i guess i wont be able to do slow motion on a part of a clip that is shot at 24fps, i’ll have to plan it out separately with the 60fps footage, right?

Hey Jeff, I’d say up for the challenge 🙂 i am still deciding whether to cut in 24fps or 60fps, i really like the cleanliness of 60fps, but still want that minor film look for the slo mo shots..
