In trying to fix another problem, we upgraded to QT 7.6. I am wondering if this is the culprit here. (?) Is there an easy way to revert back to 7.5 and see if that remedies the problem?

Having the same issue too. I thought we had it fixed. After a few uses, finished the program, and all of the sudden all of the levels are too hot. This happened after a few force quits. All of the program versions within the project exhibit the same issue.

Thanks Flo. Did this. Tried to burn the DVD, same thing. Try it again, and it burned the disk correctly- 20 minutes long. I should also say that when I get the Media 100 codecs set for DV to record to the DVR, even if everything is sitting idle, sometimes Media 100 becomes unresponsive. In other words, as soon as I change the codecs, select the DVD-R deck for Firewire control, sometimes, without even playing the timeline, the Media 100 becomes unresponsive. Perplexing.

    Floh,

We are on 13.01. We upgraded the AJA drivers as per Wick, OS is 10.5.6, and QT is still at 7.55. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Wick, I am here working late. Here are the specifics. This is a SD program in 16×9 with AE simple animations in the timeline slated as V300.mov’s. The program was mastered with Media 100i. I was just playing the timeline and the Firewire device is a DVR-510H Pioneer. Version 12.7 before I believe. Yes, I just master to the Pioneer several weeks before upgrading. Occasionally we will get a crash here or there, but nothing like have CS3 AE and Photoshop open at the same time. 🙂

Anyway, as I sit here tonight I have tried recording to DVD-R about 6 times. The program crashes at all different points in the timeline. 5:30. 8:30, 10:17. 18:46, and 17:36. In fact while doing nothing, and have the Firewire control set up to do the record to DVD, (again not touching anything) the infamous color spectrum ball appears causing me to do a force quit. I am using the DV compression to get it to DVD.

I need to get this to disc for client approval. Again, we did this before and it worked fine. This program is 20 minutes. We need you Wick!

We are experiencing a similar thing. We are exporting the timeline to a DVD recoder. We start the timeline and the recorder. About 6-8 minutes into the program, the Media 100 13.01 stops and so does the recorder. The program goes into never never land with the spinning multi-colored spectrum circle. This happens everytime and we need to export the program for a client to review in a presentation room. Can immediate help would be most helpful. The program is 20 minutes long so we can’t keep waiting to see if everything turns out. Thanks!

  • Floh,

I will respond directly to you, but thought I would let you know that I tried the Media 100i codec with the lossless compression box checked. It worked for a 3 1/2 minute digitized clip without freezing. So, I thought I had it figured out. Today I used the same codec with lossless compression, and the acquire function froze, I got the dreaded spinning Apple spectrum color wheel and the DV tape kept on playing in the machine- it’s just the acquire and the data stopped. If this happens I lose anything I digitized before the freeze. Today I had to just digitize a short segment, save the program, close Media 100, reopen Media 100, then try to quickly digitize the next segment before it froze again. Not the most productive work flow. Anything you and I can figure out off line would be of great help.

  • Floh,

Here are the specific after more testing. We are using a PowerMac G5 2.7GHz, 2 CPU’s, 512 L2 cache, Bus Speed 1.35. We are using version 13.0, and have a Kona Lhe card which we have updated only the software and not the firmware. The software version is 6.01. We have tried several disk raids with the same problem. The acquire quits randomly after 30 seconds, a minute, etc. We have also hooked up a DV camera and seemed to work, however going back to various tapes, shot at different times, the acquiring Freeze happened everytime.

I was using the Media 100 i codec. I switched to the DV and HD codec and it worked fine with no problems. I also tried the Motion JPEG B, the acquire freeze happens again. What codec is suggested to give me the best quality with SD material? Does the 13.0 upgrade cause the problem with just the Media 100 i codec and the Motion JPEG B/ Any help you can provide would be very welcomed. I am under a tight timeline!
