August 6, 2017 at 5:37 am in reply to: What happens if one day Sony Movie Studio program becomes corrupted and can’t open?No I am not new to computers. Of course I own the computer and of course I have a retail version of Movie Studio. I am aware Movie Studio does not come w the computer unlike Movie Maker.
I just was not aware that if Movie Studio fails, and can’t open or is corrupted, that the project can still be opened by reinstalling. I don’t doubt that it is true, but don’t understand the technicality of it. I thought the edits etc. pertained to that particular saved project that resided in the existing Sony Movie Studio 13 software originally installed.Lenovo quad core i7 16gb of ram, Windows 8.1 MS 13 64 bit Thumbnail is view out of the Olde North Church window where the signal lanterns were hung, as in, \”1 if by land 2 if by sea\” looking across the Charles River to the Charlestown Naval Yard where rebels awaited the signal April 18th, 1775.

Awesome John! Good stuff!
I knew there were different types of mics with diff patterns but got lazy and wasn’t taking the pattern on the ATT20 into consideration. Good wake-up call that I need to pay more attention.
I had to send my camcorder out for repair but I’ll be finishing the voice over when I get the camera back. I should be able to position the mic in the proper location so I’m close enough and it’s not seen in the camera.
In the future, I will get the shotgun or lavalier mic.
Thanks for the link on recording!
I wasn’t able to work on my project for 3 months due to work commitments. I started this project 5 years ago w zero experience. I had no idea it would take this long but as I say, there were many points where I had no time to work on it for long periods.
I’m hoping to finish it in the near future. I’ll make sure to send you a copy and list you in the credits!
Thanks!

August 4, 2017 at 12:50 am in reply to: What happens if one day Sony Movie Studio program becomes corrupted and can’t open?Yes – whenever I am finished editing for the day I change the name of the project slightly and save it so that I have multiple versions.
I think I see what you are saying. If the most recent version got corrupted then I have the prior ones to open.
If Sony Movie studio were to somehow become ruined, I could reinstall the software and it would still open projects that were not corrupted. Got it! Awesome!
Ok that helps as I got to thinking what happens if Sony software failed.

Awesome diagram and info! I love it!
Yup – I was under the mistaken impression that you only had to be, “somewhat” near the mic and that it didn’t matter if I had it sideways. Now I know that was wrong to assume that.
Yes – I need to get a diff mic for when recording simultaneous video but I can prob make the current mic work by repositioning the mic stand.
Thanks!

August 4, 2017 at 12:35 am in reply to: Sony Movie Studio 13 takes a long, long time to open project . . .Thanks again John. Another great education!
Prior to having the Seagate personal cloud drive, I DID use external drives that connected to my computer via USB. They got all filled up. Not knowing the ethernet cable was NOT the way to go, I bought the Seagate personal cloud and put all of my clips on there and backed them up to Onedrive too.
However, in the future, I can go back to using the Usb 3.0 drives.
I understand you are saying the ethernet is why I have intermittent issues with recording so I’ll definitely record to the USB 3.0 moving forward.
I found out the reason my computer was so slow the other day when I made a post about the Sony projects taking a long time to open, was I had a virus but I got rid of it w Windows Defender. Projects still open slow but that should be fixed when I go back to using the usb 3.0.
Thanks!

August 3, 2017 at 12:26 am in reply to: Sony Movie Studio 13 takes a long, long time to open project . . .Wow. I’ll have to look into getting one of those USB 3.0’s. I am not sure if this pertains but I did a speed test and I have 222 mbps download and 12 mbps upload. I pay my internet provider $10 extra for “blast”.

August 2, 2017 at 1:47 pm in reply to: What happens if one day Sony Movie Studio program becomes corrupted and can’t open? Thanks John. I am not worried about my project files as I have them on an external drive as well as on Onedrive. Oh wait, my brother told me he had two external drives fail so maybe I am worried, but I think the Onedive is foolproof? I.e. it could not go bad? Wait – I suppose that could blow up too. I better get a third and fourth back-up!
So then the project would not be lost if I reinstall Sony Movie Studio? Is Sony Movie Studio in the cloud? Is that why you could just reinstall it and get a project back?
If my computer blew, then I assume there would be no problem getting a new computer, installing Sony Movie Studio, and getting my project back?
I started thinking what happens of Sony Movie studio ever blew up and it has me worried, but I think you are saying I could get my projects back simply by reinstalling. That is reassuring if I understand correctly.Lenovo quad core i7 16gb of ram, Windows 8.1 MS 13 64 bit Thumbnail is view out of the Olde North Church window where the signal lanterns were hung, as in, \”1 if by land 2 if by sea\” looking across the Charles River to the Charlestown Naval Yard where rebels awaited the signal April 18th, 1775.

So there was an explanation, to a link and the link explanation has another link!!
Oh damn – I don’t have time to read all that cause I am sure there would be another link and then another link!
This is a tough business if you are just doing it as a hobby!!
