Your design is flawed. The DVD Specification imposes a 1 GB limit for all motion menus in a disc.
A better solution would be “buttons over video”, which, unfortunately, is not supported at this time by Encore.
I think DVDLab Pro supports this feature.

Why it happens? Good question. Have you moved, rearranged or otherwise done *anything* that might make Encore think the transcoded files aren’t where Encore thinks they should be? It could be something as simple as having your project files on an external drive, then having the drive letter changed or reassigned by Windows when you plugged the drive back in.
I would try 2 things:
1. See if “Revert to Original” is available. It may not be because the asset status is “Untranscoded”. If it is available, do a revert, then use the History list to undo. Save, close, re-open Encore.
2. Do a “Replace Asset”, then point Encore to the transcoded file.

Where did you get your copy of Encore CS3?
Since it hasn’t been released yet, you must have a stolen or hacked beta version.
If you paid someone for your copy, I suggest you get your money back. You’ve been ripped off.

No. From where you are, it seems like the easiest thing for you to do is to give each chapter its own Chapter Playlist. That is, if you are trying to set up individual chapter playback with an automatic return to the menu when the chapter is finished playing. Link buttons to the playlists, and set the end action of each chapter playlist to go back to the appropriate menu.

That’s a feature known as “Sync Button Text and Name” and it’s designed for an integrated workflow with Premiere Pro.
You turn it on or off by a check box in each button’s Property panel.
You can batch select/de-select the option by using the Menus panel (not the Menu Viewer) to select all of the buttons in a menu, then setting the check box in the Properties panel.

The ultimate goal is to export from Vegas with as little quality loss as possible. So, in general, I recommend either an uncompressed .avi file, or an .avi file that uses a lossless codec like HuffYUV or Lagarith.
But if your source footage is DV, then exporting as a DV .avi from Vegas is fast, efficient and any quality loss it introduces will be negligible.
Once the .avi file is imported into Encore, you can set your chapter markers exactly where you want them. Encore will force a new GOP at the chapter marker when it transcodes the video.
If you already have timeline markers in Vegas that you want translated to chapter markers in Encore, the best you can do for now AFAIK is the pencil-and-paper export, noting the time of each marker.

Using the Select tool (which becomes the pickwhip tool while working in the Flowchart), drag from the source of the link you want to delete to the desired new target of the link. The Flowchart panel will refresh to show the new link.
If you want to delete a link but not link to anything new, use the Properties panel for the link source and delete the link there.
