    Hi Paul

It is possible to write a program to search out the MJPG frames and save them off to another container, but I don’t know of an ‘off the shelf tool’ that will do that.

    Hi Chris

Our DDRs have an interface called SyncControl that does this for multi camera systems. If you are just looking for 1 channel, feel free to contact me off list. We can probably set that up with our MediaNXS software and an AJA Kona card.

  • You could use MediaNXS. It supports capturing video and multi channel audio on Windows. To target Mac OS-X, you should use MOV with either a yuv2 (8 bit YCbCr), DVHD or v210 (10 bit YCbCr) codecs. If you also install the optional ffmpeg installer you can capture ProRes as well.

  • DrasticPreview Pro will play DVHD from MOV, AVI or MXF (P2/OP1a/Avid) to the VGA and the LHe (or any other Aja card) at the same time. It works under Windows and OS-X. Supports a large number of other codecs, closed captions and multiple measurement scopes. Try it free here:

    Thanks James

  • I’m not in LA, so I can’t do it, but I have done it before and it is very easy if you have even basic soldering skills. I jammed a couple of nuts in as well to make it more solid. Doesn’t look great, but hasn’t failed since

I have that same combination. Make sure you are in a recommended slot. If it still doesn’t boot, remove any other cards (other then the VGA of course). Finally, try reseting the EFI/Bios/NVRAM stuff in the Mac. One of these will solve it.

    Hi

I am not sure if that last question was for me or Jeff. If there is a problem with MediaNXS, please email support-at-drastictech.com and feel free to cc me at ‘james’ at the same address.

    Cheers, James

I actually work for the company that makes it. Yes, you can setup a playlist/timeline. No, it doesn’t do scheduling. More for direct I/O, batch, etc. Kind of an input output processor for Scratch, then a Scratch competitor.

If you are using basic uncompressed video files, MediaNXS is available for AJA cards for free. You can also purchase the full version to playback most compressed and uncompressed files. https://www.medianxs.com

Thanks for you comments on DrasticPreview! You are correct about the DV. It is currently decoding as a fast, low quality image. We are replacing our DV decoder in the next version to improve quality and make way for supporting DVCPro50/100 as well as the DVSD/25 currently supported.
Also, after a meeting with Avid at NAB, we have been told we will be able to ship DNxHD MXF support in DrasticPreview by the end of June. We are hoping to also add DVCPro50/100 MXF to our existing XDCam and uncompressed Y’CbCr MXF support.
    Enjoy, James
