If the colour range is set to Video 16-235 when importing then try switching to Computer 0-255. Or the other way around.

Facebook is a less professional forum and a king of data mining. Given the choice of only one venue, I’d choose creative cow over fb. Usenet anyone?

Not sure which thread you refer too. The dinosaur comment?

I definitely prefer the Creative Cow forum over using facebook. But FB may attract more attention to M100, positive & negative.

I think the extra protection is to help prevent malware from installing itself.

Maybe software developers need to update something on their end to make installs more El Capitan friendly? Or maybe Apple just needs to fix something.

    Anyway, everything is working now.

  • Part of the project update required changing titles & logo overlays throughout. Originally, the tracks were all unnamed, just title 1..2..3..etc. As I went through it, I gave each track a more meaningful name. Timing was different with the new vo so each track length was also adjusted. I consolidated a few of the multi-layers too.

I thought about renaming one of the other computers on the network with the old computer name to see if would give me any additional information when it can’t find what it is looking for.

It doesn’t look like my recent upgrade to El Capitan and Media 100 2.1.7 changed anything. In general, El Capitan seems a bit faster than Yosemite.

After some client feedback on the current set of updates, I’ll revisit this next week.

Alright, I just need to re-read the FAQ.

I am an existing Media 100 user. What is the current version?

The latest version of Media 100 is Media 100 Suite v2.1.7 which adds support for Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan). Users running Media 100 Suite v2.1 or higher are eligible to receive v2.1.7 as a free update. Please download the Trial Version and run the installer, entering your name and 60-day Trial Install Code. Although you are entering a Trial Install Code, your existing v2.1.x license will be recognized, and the software will be fully licensed.

After following the directions to use the trial code, the install worked smoothly and it incorporated my existing registration info.

  • Haven’t found a solution to this yet.

It might require deleting the existing title tracks and making new ones. But I really don’t want to go through all that. I did check each on and relink. They all re-rendered correctly. But sometimes there’s something about the title track itself.

Ok. After a bit of searching, I found that I needed to disable El Capitan’s the system integrity protection. You can find instructions here:

    https://osxdaily.com/2015/10/05/disable-rootless-system-integrity-protection-mac-os-x/

This lets me get past the “verifying” hang-up BUT 2.1.7 doesn’t like my current 2.1.6 registration info.

  • I’ve experienced a similar “changed hardware, lost feature” with an older NLE on my Amiga. Updating from MovieShop4 to MovieShop5, also required updating hardware. With the old hardware, there was a real-time chromakey feature. But it was lost along the way with chipset changes & upgrades for the new hardware. The new system was definitely worth it and feature rich but many lamented the loss of the real-time chromakey that now had to be duplicated with software rendering.

The latest version of Media100 offers a lot of new features that make it worthwhile. There are Media100 re-rendering options that can achieve what you want to do with custom re-cropping but certainly not as ideal as the realtime hardware solution of yesteryear.

I use Sorenson Squeeze when I want to crop & reframe my raw footage before bringing it into Media100. I need to convert the MTS files anyway before using Media100. For a straight quick conversion, I use Clip-Wrap. For other needs, like crop/reframe/etc, I use Squeeze to make prores files.
