Also, if you have a Kona you can still use Resolve for exporting out, you won’t see video output on a broadcast monitor, but if you just need to convert that wouldn’t be a problem. Resolve is amazing for resizing as well.

The way I do t, is export AAF link only option and open in DaVInci Resolve, then export DPXs

do you currently use Smoke with DaVinci? How do you circumvent the video cards incompatibility issue if you’re using one Mac?

Avid is obviously in serious need of cash. In NAB they were doing the $1000 upgrade to Symphony promotion, which it makes sense if you don’t own a Media Composer, but since I do I wasn’t going to pay that money for color correction tools I don’t use, and I’m glad I didn’t spend that money, rather buy the Baselight plugin.
And now this half-a** upgrade for $500, it’s obviously another indication how desperate they are. Which makes me wonder the future of Avid. I’ll do the upgrade, I’ll support them, at least they haven’t abandoned us like FCP. If Avid is gone, what are the options then? -
That’s good, I haven’t seen those controls on my Waves. I was actually considering exchanging my Waves for an Avid Artist, just for the fact that I can use Smoke with it. But I heard the mapping is terrible, now if Smoke would support the Element then I’m sold

[Sascha Haber] “Well, its not me who started to give it away for free.”
Sorry, I didn’t mean to make it personal…
[Sascha Haber] “Because you are right, its hard to explain to clients why the need to pay a proper amount of money if they dont see the big iron.”
I don’t know man, I honestly think clients don’t care about what panels you have, I’ve sat down on Pablo sessions with a big panel and Resolve with a Waves and I didn’t see any indication of interest on the clients regarding panels, they did ask however what system I was using, and Resolve now is Apple Color when it comes to market perception.
The bottom line is, since DaVinci got free grading prices expectations from clients went incredible low.

[Sascha Haber] “And this is the moment where you start to value the big panel…”
30K for a panel that only works on a software that now it’s free for the masses? No thanks!
I don’t care if it can interpret my brain waves and do the color as I visualize it ( actually I may pay 30K for that)
The other day I was asked if I take DaVinci Resolve projects instead of Final Cut or Avid to start working, and they wanted to pay $1500 for a feature length shot in RED, felt insulted to be honest. -
Sorry man, having a rough day, you were just trying to help.

[Peter Berg] “Have you tried Quicktime Pro at all?”
hmmm….no, too hard, but I heard people who’ve used are geniuses, you might be one of them!
