My situation was similar, except that the capture of Movie Maker was working. Like you, I tried WMMaker just as a troubleshooting method. The fact that it was working led me to uninstalling/reinstalling Vegas.

I’d taken the time to send an email to SONY using their support form, serial number and all… I’m still waiting for a response… I don’t think I’ll ever get one which I find very disheartening.

I’ll keep your solution in my back-pocket, should this rear its ugly head again.

Just to be clear… this happened to you when you used the capture from within Vegas correct? the FILE-CAPTURE VIDEO option from the menu right?

AHhhh.. I think I get it now. I was looking for some DV driver of some sort in Add/remove programs but from what you’re telling me, it’s the entry “Windows Live Essentials” that I must do the repair on … correct? I’m assuming that IT contains the DV capture component.

FYI,

I resolved the problem by unistalling/reinstalling Vegas. A bit of a pain but it worked.

Don’t know what the goblin was. I hope he doesn’t return 🙂

I tried to system restore but Windows complained that it was not successful … when I rebooted from initiated.
any other ideas anyone??

I’m on Vista with a DVX100 cam.

I’m stuck as I have footage that I need dumped for a project and can not access it due to this error.

I was hoping not to have to do this but I may have to try a restore point. I’m using a dVX 100. The starnge thing is that the Windows cam capture starts up without an error. I want to use the Sony capture as I know it creates separate clips on import.

I’ve had this before but can’t recall what I did, it was silly, like opening another project, closing it and opening a new project and importing. not working this time :(.

Hi John,

can you point me in the right direction to embed my mp4 in a web page? I tried and object tab but it didn’t provide any controls even if I had the value set to “true”. I must be doing something wrong.

What is the correct way to embed?

Hey Jon,

I just acquired a green screen, although I haven’t tried it yet, it came with an educational DVD, which I have watched.

They do stress the importance of lighting in BS or GS. They demo it using two 500 W lights, with softboxes aimed at the screen in a criss-cross manner. they claim that once you do this, (with no wrinkles in your screen), you can then add a key light on your subject.
