Yes, they are very large windows… a wall of them!

Good point about NOT moving the table Bill.

I like the idea of using the natural light that’s available.

1. Any tips on making the subject “stand out” from the background if using light from windows?
2. Have you guys ever used a green screen in this situation?
3. Any tips on making an interesting background?
4. Have you ever tried shooting something like this with the window/skyline in the background? I was always taught NOT to shoot with a window as a background. any thoughts?

Thansk Joe, very helpful.

The mix of colour temp will be a problem as I can’t gel the windows… too many and too big. I don’t have that many gels for my lights either. Hmmmm… this will be interesting. I’ll continue my research.

Good news!

For those who encounter performance issues with AVCHD in Vegas.

I’d like to report that when I moved to Vegas 10… the performance significantly improved! 🙂

When previewing in SV10, preview-auto, the frame rate can now be maintained at 29.97 during playback. This is making my editing sessions much more pleasant.

I hope this tidbit of info will help others.

Why does Vegas put the settings for the actual file rendering quality in the Preview window? I would think that what is in the preview window is for…. the quality of the previewing? Hmmmm…..

Ahhh.. got it!

I would only use BEST if I were rendering to BEST quality …

Are you referring to the actual rendering process (render to file) or rendering in the preview window or ‘on-the-go’ as i preview my footage?

Makes sense. can you explain a couple more things?

What do you use “BEST” for?
and…
what about the sub settings choice “auto ,preview, good, best”… what does this one refer to?

Thanks John.

I matched the settings, the only param off was the width/height and the pixel aspect ratio.

I made the other changes you suggested and I’m seeing some improvement. (Especially the Preview-auto setting)

I’ll have to read up on the Draft-Preview-Good-Best dropdown as it’s not obvious what they mean.

How can I make sure that my source/project props match? i simply dragged my footage into my project.

I wasn’t aware of the “RAM stealing” bit 🙂

How would I convert to CineForm if I were to take this route?
