    Thanks Matt!

I appreciate your efforts. I’ll give this last macro a try today and report back. You’re correct, I don’t need the audio events named.

No, I don’t need the events numbered over multiple tracks.

The best solution might be to only work the script on selected events (video events).

    Is this easy to do?

Which events does the script in its latest version affect?

    Hi again Matt, more info.
I tried it on a three-event single track test project and it worked, somewhat. I changed the name of the first take to “1” (no quotes), ran the script and it did rename the the takes but starting at “11”, not “1”.

The error still occurs in the multitrack project I want to use this on.

    any ideas?

    Hi Matt,
thanks for this! IT looked promising but I just attempted running it and bombed. I received this error. Any ideas?

    Hi Matt,
thanks for this brilliant solution! It looks like it’ll do the trick. I’ll give it a try and report back any issues.
    Thanks a bunch!

Thanks Mike. This is a very good idea.
However, I need the clips incrementally numbered as they are in the project. At the moment, this order does not match the order in windows explorer as I have moved some clips around.

Also, I’m not rendering for the assistant. She’s using the .veg file to work from. (and I don’t have excalibur)

Matt’s macro may just do the trick 🙂
    Thanks for the suggestion though.

    Odd…
I just regained access to my numeric keypad keys’ expected behaviour.
    Case closed.

February 2, 2013 at 6:48 pm in reply to: still image becomes upside down for one frame.

    Hi John,
I believe that’s what I’ve been doing, grabbing a V11 or V9 project as a template (using predetermined title layouts, intro/outro, etc) to use in a V12 project… as a starting point.

Again, if one can not confidently upconvert projects, Sony Vegas reveals yet another significant flaw.

Can you imagine keeping six versions of Vegas on a workstation, just in case one has to re-visit a past project and make modifications to it? or,
can you imagine if Microsoft would not correctly convert older Excel or Word documents in newer versions? I don’t think the market would be accepting it gracefully.

I will try starting my next project in Vegas 12 to see if I have better stability. Thanks for the idea. I’ll report back.

I see. That certainly can’t hurt, John.

On the same PC, things that used to work in SVP11, now really act up.
I was working on a project today, wasted many hours trying to render using the MainConcept template. Again, it’s just jpgs on a timeline with a few crop/pans, a couple of built-in transitions.

Odd things like in the middle of rendering, it freezes. or.. the upside down image mentioned above, or… a one-frame jumbled image at a cut (the one-frame image was actually from earlier on the timeline!). or.. an image becoming slightly out of focus two frames before a cut, etc.

After hours, I rendered with Sony AVC without errors. but… lower quality.

Again, so not impressed. I need to be able to depend on my tools and be able to concentrate on my creativity when editing. Not forever problem-solving what should work and spending valuable time trying and applying workarounds. I’ve been in the software industry for over 25 years so I do understand the complexity of it all, especially given all the players involved. But this is ridiculous and simply speaks of buggy software released before adequate testing.

    Cheers,

    Gilles
