Does Redcine-x Pro keep the timecode when exporting to Quicktime file?

Sometimes if nothing works when trying to convert a file. Just play the video as it is and record the screen. I’ve had to do this a few times. Quicktime is free and has a screen recording option, but if you want something better I always recommend Screenflic. Or Fraps if you’re on a PC. You can then crop it and export to ProRes.

What exactly does the Cuda feature on the GTX680 do?

Do you know of other ways of speeding up the FCP7 rendering and exporting time?

I’m thinking about getting the 680 for my Mid2010 MacPro just because I’ve read in a lot of places it performs faster, but not by much.

At https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html you can see the Sapphire 7950 comes in at 4645 points whereas the GTX680 comes in at 5716 points.

Either way they’re both a great upgrade from the stock 5770/5870.

Great thanks for that explanation. Is it safe to assume that if you take away the + in the (Millions of Colors+) it could just be called ProRes444 without the fourth (4)?

Just trying to understand why the four 4s.

Also, would the DP and color corrector prefer if I leave the Gamma Correction at None rather than Automatic? I’ve been editing for a while but these are two simple things they never taught us at uni.

What does “only bloat the file size.” mean?

That’s got me. I don’t understand how the raw footage is over 20 minutes long and only 51.1MB

Something strange is happening here. Does the webm file open in Quicktime? Can you check it’s specs here?

In FCP7 even without the Millions of Colors+ I can still adjust the Opacity meter as normal. Can you give me a real world example of where I might need the extra +(alpha channel).

– really? the bitrate of HQ/444 is much higher and we’re shooting 2K and hoping to project it in a cinema.

Hi Tim,

A 1920×1080 30 second ProRes422 clip should only be 400-500MB. And it should take under a minute to convert. What program are you using to convert the Webm files? Can I suggest MPEG Streamclip.
