Hi, this may be silly but when you toggle the transparency button do you actually see the grid? If you are applying the Knoll Light Factory effect you might not have an alpha channel at all since you usually compose it with one of the blend modes.
If that’s the case you can make a matte with a copy of the layer, then make it b/w and use it as a luma track matte.

Hi, if all you whant is a line, you could use the beam effect.

1. Apply the tracking information to a null
2. Link the End Point of the Beam effect to the null’s position

Thats all, you can put the start point anywhere you need and the line will follow the plane.

Hi Jason, you could use a second animator and add the anchor point property, that way is easier to find the middle point. I upload a little test, it aint that great but I hope it helps; here’s the link:

Hi, I had a similar problem. I had to open every AI file and save it as CS4. That was the only way to see them correctly in AE.

Hi, I think you can use a font with the shape of the hexagon and use the powerfull tools AE have for animating text. I try it and looks pretty good. There is a font with the shape you need at here:
