I’ve had a few instances of .mp3 files being transcoded on the fly, and found an .aif copy buried in the Library file (Optimized).

It’s interesting that you’ve had success relinking an mp3 to a wav – I hadn’t thought to try it given the stringent relinking behavior of X. Typically, I’ll make the watermarked track a compound and edit with that. Then open the compound after approval and replace the mp3 with the new wav.

If your source material is all ProRes, then H264 doesn’t enter the equation.

Given the ProRes source, it may be that you just don’t have a big enough pipe from the LaCie to your Mac. Are you using eSATA for that?

If the shape masks on the color board are there just to remove the words, try this:

1. Delete the masks from the color board – you can also delete the color correction if it isn’t necessary to get a good key

2. For each word you want to remove, apply a Shape Mask from the Effects browser to the clip. Place it under the Luma Key in the Effects stack, and invert it. Resize to fit. In this case, you’ll probably want the Feathering control set to 0.

The only thing I can think of is your exported QT movie has the titles on a separate video track, which is unlikely. The fact that your main storyline is a compound clip shouldn’t matter.

You could try to export .mp4 from your timeline and upload that – I’m fairly certain things would work that way.

Exactly! And aside from that aside, there’s the whole issue of social experimentation via feed manipulation, the corporate-level cavalier attitude regarding account security, the intentional misuse of their Apple dev account certs… Stack on top of that the inability to follow an actual discussion, and Facebook is a complete non-starter for me.

I deleted my account a year and a half ago, and have no intention of going back.

Love me some COW, but it has been a bit quiet of late.

I do this with source footage for transcription fairly regularly – I set up a Compressor preset that reduces frame size to 320×180, sums audio to mono, reads the file’s timecode, and burns that in. Works great for a Finder folder full of clips, or for a stack of FCPX Projects – I have it set as one of my share destinations. Transcriptions come back sorted by file name with time-stamped paragraphs.
