Ok, I’m responding to my own post. I found the anwer. Yes, I should have researched before I ranted (usually do), but maybe this will help someone else with the problem of missing files. It’s very frustrating.

From a post on the “Basics” Forum:

In the project window, double-click on one of the pieces of missing footage. A window should open to navigate to the new location. Click on the footage in the new location, and AE should link to all the other missing footage in that folder.

Wow! I am really dissapointed to hear all this. I figured I’d find out that it would be no problem. Now I have to rethink upgrading my CS3 Production Suite and purchasing a 64 bit system. It’s not that I have that many plug-ins, but I bet A LOT of people will be very frustrated if they spend the money to upgrade If this is indeed the case.

Well, I realize that I’m going to need to purchase a 64 bit system to get the most out of CS4. Sure hope the plugins work 🙂

Hi, thanks for the information. I haven’t purchased the shotgun mic yet. It sounds like I’d be better off just using a xlr wire into my camera. I’ve seen those transmitters, but don’t really need to be wireless, just thought it would be cool if I could use what I have already. When I see terms like “resistors/capacitors” my brain shuts off lol.

Normally I send the video with audio to the tv station as an avi or mpeg (30 second commercial). Occasionally, I send just the audio to a radio station as mp3. Thanks, Donovan

LOL Yep, tried tweaking both corners, up, down, left right. Seems like there’s always one edge that isn’t quite straight. Didn’t know about the shift key, thanks for that info 🙂
