    Thanks Todd,

Yes, I was playing it in WMP. That’s good to hear. I’ll try playing it in Adobe Media Player if I didnt delete the files.

Very interested in seeing what happens, thanks again Todd!

Thanks for digging around a little Vince, sounds like Adobe needs to do a little re-tooling to AME.

    Hey Vince thanks,

No, no effects at all, not even transitions. Think of the most basic commercial ever. I have done spots with massive effects in CS4 with my Canon XH A1s HD cam with no problems at all so I’m thinking there is something with the 5D Native format that has a glitch with CS5.

It exports as a WMV fine.

    Very strange.

Don’t let people scare you about recording directly into the 5D, I shot this video (Link below) as a test with my Rode NTG-2 plugged directly into the camera with the manual setting just below half, and it’s certainly acceptable.

I am going to add a Juicedlink box to make it even better and that will go into the camera as well.

So just know you do have other options if you don’t like to sync like me.

30 fps and 29.97 fps are the same thing, my camera reads 30 fps when shooting but in reality it is shooting 29.97.

I am curious as to what format you are outputting to, because I use 29.97 exclusivly and all the export options in the Media Encoder do have a 29.97 option. Mpeg, Avi, WMV?

  • Everybody needs to go watch these two videos that demo all audio options for the 5D directly into the Audio input jack in conjunction with the free Magic Lantern Firmware.

the first video tests 4 different units.

The second video is the conclusion of all the tests with full samples and a convincing argument that great results are possible.

  • I’m still unclear if Bill even knows what Magic Lantern with a JuicedLink box even sounds like or has he even ever heard of them.

If he hasn’t used those two items together with the 5D then he is not qulified to answer this thread no matter how good he is or knowledgeable on all other audio systems.
