I do think there’s a reason for the development in news “first” (not that it’s not happening elsewhere.
It’s easier to take the “risk” on new workflows by experimenting on short form packages and, with each success, others can follow.With long form narrative, the risks are much higher given the time and commitment to a given workflow for a project. FCPX does seem to be making isolated inroads in long form. From those beachheads, as those veterans work on other projects, its use will grow there as well. The nature of that market will mean slower growth for FCPX though.

Personally I don’t think these were simply discontinued. I’m inclined to believe some variation will resurface.

But may be for somebody else. I think that’s why there’s speculation Apple bought the suite. Apple doesn’t need to make the specific suite “profitable” but it would otherwise as value to FCPX to the small portion of the market that does need it.

Mac support is still there. it’s only MXF FCPX support that’s gone. Specifically the AS-11 MXF suite is gone.

RedGiant has what might be a reasonable business model with $10/mo $99/yr $399/lifetime model.
FXFactory (interesting note that NoiseIndustries now redirects) is $399 and/or a bunch of third party plugins.
CoreMelt is $199 and/or a bunch of additional plugins.Of course we have no idea how well any of the above are doing but Sapphire Edge at $199 was in a similar range. I suspect the failure of FXCentral though meant there wasn’t a significant growing revenue stream. This is especially so since SEdge didn’t support Adobe CC (OTOH Sapphire does).
I wouldn’t be surprised if BorisFX dropped BCC support for FCPX which is still on version 8 while 9 has been out for some time for other products.

Not sure yet but “temporarily unavailable” wording changed to
“We appreciate your interest, but we are no longer able to offer solutions for Final Cut Pro.”So something is up and seems to be in the process of changing. I don’t think this sounds like it’s simply been discontinued. I’ll keep digging.

Sounds like they have no interest in an entry level product or “accessible” by any definition I’d use.
They’re still limited to broadcast fx work. -
