I have nearly 20 years as pro cameraman and editor.
Flip is great –for what it is.
Picture and sound are good enough. But that’s not the real magic.
Because it has the “presence” of a social device ( ie. still camera, cellphone, ipod ) it’s got a humanity to it.
Plus ease, simplicity ( tapeless ) , accessibility ($200). It’s a winner.
.. and I recall shooting with $30,000 camera with a tape that was 4 times the size of this camera!

I’ve read all their marketing stuff. Thanks Dave and David. I think it’s great, just not definitive.
I’d really like something that states clearly and definitively the differences between the two versions.

Hi. I tried this MPEG Streamclip. I was unable to get it to convert to flash however. I don’t see flash as an export option. I see “FLC” as an export option but that’s an animation format I think, not flash.

Thanks, dude. That’s what I’m looking for: a little guidance to help make it passable (or better!) . In addition to your sage advice I found the M-Audio Box was too hot. That was difficult to determine without meters on it. (meters in FCP were fine). I’m now plugging headphones directly into it to monitor it locally to set levels. I believe I will prevail.

To be clear I’m not trying to achieve studio conditions nor do I have access to additional equipment / personnel. I need to make the best of what I have.
