I have been bitten by this a few times so on the rare occassion that I do not use a Pro Audio Studio, I now have the following simple set up.
I have a Bars and Tone Clip (tone is 1000hz at -20Db) I drop this on the front of the submaster ahead of the leader and ID board. My post house sets this to 0Db on their mastering machines (DigiBeta, D5, D1 etc)
I keep my PPro audio levels to -12Db and use a hard/soft limiter to compress the audio.

Check your short cut key assignment for the Numeric Pad “Asterisk” key

Yep
(but I have found it to be well worth the price that would have paid off many times over)

Automatic Duck ,make the OMF plugin for Premro. Works perfectly and well worth the price in my opinion.

I use Disk Keeper as my Defrag application. It is amazing how fragmented a drive becomes after working on a NLE project (especially a big one). I always defrag after completing a project and doing “the housework”.
BTW: I recommend Disk Keeper

Effects like Magic Bullets require rendering before previewing at real speed. They need serious processing.
Even the highest end ‘puter boxes’ as used in Flame and Inferno Suites render.

Hector – you are not doing this correctly or as I described to you.
You do not need to apply hold frame by frame and your method described in your original post is wrong. I & O sets in and outpoints which are un necessary to achieve the freeze frame.
Select and Export a frame from the source monitor as a still > put it on the timeline and drag it to any length you desire eg 150 frames.
Does this work and does it flicker ?

Two (possibly even more) ways to do this
1 Export the frame you want to freeze on (as a still from the export menu) then bring it back into the timeline from the project window. Make it any length you want by dragging the ends.
2. Use the frame hold from the right click menu. A few ways to do this from there but easiest is if you use the razor to separate the clip at the freeze point.
