yes, less latitude means less dynamic range. darks and whites will hit a ‘wall’ faster. possibly more curves contrast. since that version didn’t have scopes yet, you will have to eyeball it. maybe color range picker or something similar might help. greys are gamma, you do that last, after black point and white point.

is this an export or screenshot of premiere’s sequence? the lut has to be in premiere’s technical lut folder and media encoder technical lut as well.
    disable use previews
    disable import sequences natively.
is it an iridas cube lut? those are natively supported by premiere. try exporting as that
is the scopes IRE over 99 and below 1? try nesting the sequence first or adding lut in adobe media encoder lut dropdown.

reset your workspace to color workspace. and have nvidia control panel set premiere.exe to use primary 1060gtx.
don’t overlap the ui controls. delete premiere preferences and delete cache.

April 9, 2017 at 3:41 pm in reply to: Fast Way to Do LOTS of Picture-in-Picture

in after effects, a simple expression for the width and height to fit in a precomp so any picture would perfectly size and the precomp would make it all reusable and a lot faster. I don’t think premiere was made to do this sort of stuff automatically. select clips, right click set to frame/scale to frame.

maybe a nested sequence might work, I seriously doubt it. Sounds like a lot of trouble in premiere though. I recommend AE.

  • if the old framerate was 29.97i 3:2 pulldown, which is interlaced, and you drop it in a 23.976 sequence, premiere should automatically do the reverse pulldown. how does it look? does it frame jerk at all?

    if not smooth:

DCP is exactly 24p. so once you’re rendered your final 23.976 premiere output in a very high quality intermediate container, import and reinterpret to 24fps. this will modify the video and audio at the same time so there’s no audio drift. or the harder way, but faster, you can use a metatag edit on the fps playback speed such as compressor or remuxing on pc(this method requires audio stretch and pitch correction).

i haven’t fiddled with vfr much myself, but apparently the newer handbrake doesn’t work as well as the older builds. if you can find the older builds, they may work better. if not, for pc, you may need to stretch tool the audio or use plural eyes correct audio drift feature.
I’m not going to suggest a random 3rd party tool I haven’t used before though but I’ve seen a few. good luck.

    in VLC:
    -tools-preferences-
set output to openGL video output and in vlc, effects, filters, disable video effects.
its pixels will precisely match premiere down to the RGB code.

    also:
in nvidia control panel, change color range 16-235 to 0-255.

if you’re going for perfect matching, you will want to grade with the worse camera being the master because you can’t make its latitude or lens quality any better.

you can go old school without lumetri with fast color corrector and RGB curves.

you can use fast color corrector first to get basic black point, white point, contrast, saturation.

then finish off any strange variable tints with RGB curves effect if needed.

try compressor to prores should export with no re-syncing. some people are reporting handbrake isn’t perfect.
