ok, I made a version of immigration, where you highlight 2 things, the thing you want to change, and the thing you want to change it too. I succesfully linked two huge projects together with it in 2 seconds instead of 6 hours. It can also relink hard files too. Thanks to AEhancers for their good search forum.

export out 10 bit trillions tiff, for mac, have Final Cut export do the rescaling(or AE’s instant hd), NOT the dvd encoder, do 8-9 Mbps cbr dvd-9/dvd-r for compatibility with older dvd players.

whenever you delete a reference from your hard disk, AE does not auto update. I find that rather peculiar. Also, I believe I often do what you’re talking about manually; importing one project into another and merging the final output of it to all the inputs and sources of the master comp. I have to do this by hand. I can code a script that would make this automatic if I felt like it. What do you guys think?

1. there’s re-interlacer by revision that uses motion encoding, or
2. you could try my program I made in AE. It uses timewarp’s pixel motion shutter blur to create a difference matte driving a griddler effect so that it only affects heavy motion.
3. There’s probably a practical approach too such as doubling the frames with optical flow then placing the frames back into original fps comp forcing the frames to turn into fields then rendering out fields and then re-importing back into AE with fields off.

If you’re windows, not mac(i couldn’t tell from your post), then I believe Super, a free software recoder supports turning a DVCPRO HD into a quicktime png or animation or something lossless.

I perfectly understand what you’re saying, but the tiff was merely a good way for him to render an image out to me in high enough quality so that I wouldn’t lose even more quality, i.e. re-rendering out to a jpg would lose even more quality. As for testing wise, I got some of the color and details back even with his very small posted jpg as shown below using my project. Other programs can then repair the chroma damage furthur, such as Topaz.
Now obviously, he would want to re-shoot, but if it’s impossible, I’m simply giving him the best way I know how to salvage his problem.

if he uploads a full rez tiff, I’d be glad to post the result with both camera RAW and my project as comparisons. Even with jpg’s, there is restore possible.
