Having said that, there are lots of reasons, including the fact that you simply WANT to, that one might still purchase a car with a manual stick. I might be wrong, but don’t think you can purchase a high performance Ferrari with an automatic transmission.

It’s not hard (or uncommon) to have a single clip in multiple bins in Avid. Do it all the time.

Wow, while this is undoubtedly true, editors deal with hard realities that programmers don’t. It goes both ways. And if Apple wants to call this a professional application, a hard reality they need to face is that they need to have their programmers talk to some real editors. I get that you want to defend this application, and I don’t really care one way or the other because i’m largely an Avid editor, but don’t be blind to legitimate criticisms. If they’re honest and constructive, it will eventually improve your preferred tool. If everybody continues to make excuses for Apple, some of these deficiencies will never get fixed.

I don’t know if it’s unproductive. For me I’m definitely referring to Hollywood editing, because that’s where I am, and that’s the work I do for a living. Because of that, I’m an Avid guy, through and through, and I suspect in this tiny arena, Avid will benefit from Apple’s FCP X decisions. I will buy FCP X next month, now that I’m working again and have cash flow. It sounds fun and I think it will be cool for my YouTube videos that I do. Mind you, that’s not meant to be derogatory. If you can make money with this tool then by all means go out and make money with it.
A long time ago I became agnostic about PC vs Mac, and I’m largely agnostic about FCP vs Avid vs Premiere. I own all three and I try to be at least marginally proficient in all, but I consider myself an expert in Avid, which is where I make my bread and butter. They’re just tools, and the good news is they’re all reasonably priced enough that if you have to make a choice because of some corporation’s bad decisions, then it’s not as cataclysmic as it was a decade ago.

Given that it’s only been out for a couple weeks, I think it’s bit premature to make judgments based on it’s ability to generate income. You’ll either have to make the decision that it CAN make you money or it CAN’T make you money based on your application and go for it.

Which transition have you selected from the dropdown menu? There is a specific transition called, Dip to Color which, when centered and changed to white, will do a fade to color / fade out of color transition.

Yeah, Avid has a very powerful multi-cam capability.
