Thank you Eric, just got back and online here and got your message.
One quick question, you may have made a typo but you listed
    1) which talked about the standard DVD preset and the use of speed

    and then it says
3)Which talked about the mono stuff

Was there a 2) that may have been deleted or something?

in either case I really appreciate you getting back to me.
    Thanks – Carl

    Hey Mark,

Thanks for taking a look. Actually the copcars allready have the light bar, its just hard to see because they zip by so fast and also have motion blur.

I think once I can get a half way realistic strobe flash, its just a matter of parenting the flashing light to the cop car precomp. Each of those cop cars are the same, just offset in time and speed.

I guess my real question now is how to make the light, and make it strobe. AE,PS,and premiere is about all I have at my disposal. If you have any suggestions in terms of building the lights and making the flash I would appreciate it. I just haven’t done a lot with lighting in general yet on many of my projects.

One more thing, did ya get a laugh – Thanks again – Carl

Heres a link Mark if you want to check out what I’m doing.

    https://www.brickfish.com/Pages/VideosSeries/VideoView.aspx?pid=1068065&vid=7416_59422628

You might even get a chuckle if you take a look. It’s only a minute long.

I actually do know how to track the lights once there made, my question had more to do with how to make the lights themselves, and get them to flash. If you check out the video you will see that all the scenes are daylight. I should have been more specific.

I’m gonna do a part 2 on this video at some point, You really brought up some great recommendation to really complete the effect so thanks.

I could’nt have heard worse news, but I’m happy for you to be able to spend more time with your wife and new baby.

Aharon, I have been quitely learning so much about AE thanks to your video tutorials. I watch a lot of other tutorials as well. I mean this with all sincerity:

There is no one, and I mean no one, who has shown me the light in AE more than you, and there is no one who does higher quality and more informative video tutorials than you.

And for that I thank you and wish you all the best of luck in whatever you do.

Thanks Eric for getting back and forwarding the link. I’ll check out the workaround and see if it can work in encore. Seems like it would be a simple thing to do but I guess it is not.

    Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for replying back. The layer that I am using the puppet tool on is not a shape layer. It is a RGB cutout of a scuba diver, the puppet tool was used to make his legs move as me swims across the stage.

I’ll keep working on a solution to bring it to a smaller file size.

You would use a blending mode (I use screen) on the fire layer and that should remove the black. Often on the beginning of their footage they have a logo inserted. You would edit that portion out first prior to putting it into the timeline.

This is a real nice site where you can get some fire footage.
