Funny that you found that post, its mine 😉 I was never able to preserve the quality. Here’s what I did. Made a fresh new comp. (720 X 480), what I needed for FCP and then Pre-Comped the Comp. (1650 X 1080). Rescaled the pre-comp to fit into my 720 X 480 and exported it. The quality of the 720X480 video was not even close to as clear as the original.
I should mention I am not working with video, I’m working with screenshots I took with my computer, then edited with Photoshop, and what I am animating is Photoshop Layers…

Yeah, is there anyway I can export into 720 X 480 without loosing quality? I know it doesn’t really make any sense, but do you understand what I’m asking? I hope I was clear…

Sorry about that, I meant within After Effects. If I work with a sequence that large in FCP, I don’t loose any resolution. Can I export from After Effects in size (720 X 480), without loosing quality?

Thanks, I figured it out a while back… Now, I’m trying to figure it out in Maya. Know any good tutorials for that?
