August 5, 2013 at 5:15 pm in reply to: How do they make the textures on their swimsuits? There are software applications specifically for fabric design. These are somewhat similar to Photoshop as far as the graphic design part, but they also generate electronic patterns for the fabric weaving machines.

DVD does not support embedding external software applications.
Why not encode each song as a Dolby .ac3 audio stream and make an animated progress bar or other graphic for the picture. The viewer can skip forward or backward through the track using the standard DVD player controls.

Not all the tools in Photoshop are video-aware, and I am almost certain that content aware scaling is one of them. One of the experts at Scott Kelby’s Lightroom Conference briefly touched on this.

Keith,
The ability to create a 720P Blu-ray is uncommon in the inexpensive Blu-ray authoring apps. I suspect your assets are being transcoded to 1080i upon building the project, and that would explain the mismatch you see. Encore can scale the menu but not the overlay.
Try giving Encore a 1920×1080 version of the menu.

Did you create the menu and overlay files at 1920×1080 pixels at 72dpi? Most problems like this result from the menu amd/or overlay being created at the wrong size.

Adam, see Media Composer lesson 76: Motion Tracking for the tutorial you need on the Animatte effect.

Adam,
These are very easy to do using the animatte effect. If you have a wide shot of tall buildings and a title needs to appear to “pass behind” a building, you create a shape matching the building to mask the title. Draw a shape and set it to “key out.” If the shot of the buildings moves, then you add a tracker to make the mask move with the building.
Check out Kevin P. McAuliffe’s Avid tutorials here on the Cow. I think he covers the animatte effect in one of the advanced compositing tutorials. (Dont be put off by the word “advanced” — animatte effects are really easy once you do one or two.)

Cal,
Note that titling and graphic elements will suffer in every HD downconversion, whether you use software methods or expensive hardware systems.

There are many different and incompatible file formats used for DVD subtitles. Check the Encore help file for the specific file formats that Encore supports for subtitles. Export the correct file format from Miyu, and you should be good to go.
You cannot convert subtitles to an .m2v file.

Many people report better results by doing a high quality downconversion and then encoding. So the first step is the downconversion; then determine whether you want a better encoder.
