Thank you so much for your help, If I can get it down to three hours, what would you suggest from there?

Thank you so much for your help. If I encoded the 4 hour videos to 854×480@24FPS, what Bit-Rate would I use to still match the 1 GB limit. Also, do you have any ideas as to a more efficient codec than H.264?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Are you having the same problem with other sequences? I mean is it a FCP7 as a whole problem, or just your project.

Could we get some more information? What NLE are you using?

    Hey,
Why didn’t you import your dv tapes through FCPX? When you import though FCPX, it creates a ProRes 422 mov. file. This file is just, or even more, high quality than iMovie’s dv. file, and it works natively with virtually all applications. I am just wondering if there is something that I am missing, because I use DV tapes as well, and use FCPX, and they always seem to work fine with everything.

Well, the dvds that I have tested, just have a really SD look to them. I don’t know how to describe it…I am doing vbr 2-pass 9mb/sec encode settings, with a sharpen filter set really low. I guess that look is just what I am going to get. Also I was wondering, if I shot in 17mb/sec full HD video, on the finished DVD should I use the highest bit-rate…9mb/sec? Or would it not make a quality difference to do 4 or 5mb/sec since SD is about 1/4 of HD?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Well, I don’t want to do blu-ray for a couple of reasons. And the dvds that I burn using encor, even with a high bit-rate, just look unprofessional, they look like SD. I guess that is just what I am going to have to live with, but all the dvds that I see, (most of what I watch is from low-budget independent producers) looks really good. Almost like HD.
I am just wondering if I am doing something wrong.
    Thanks,
    Ben

Thank you for the help. But the program was not purchased through Adobe, and I do not have the dvd for it. Does anybody know if it is possible to get the library anywhere else?
    Thanks,

The quality of the dvd produced through final cut, is low compared to the superior results that can be produced through compressor. So I guess to answer your question, I need a program that can except mv2 files, (the export out of compressor) and ac3 dolby Digital files. Also advanced menu editing, is a must.
    Thanks,
    Ben

Thanks for your help, I have used dvd architect in the past and had great success with it, I have not thought about running it through Parallels though. Does Parallels have enough power to perform successfully on a i5 macbook pro with 8 gigs of ram? If so, what operating system would you run through it, windows 8, or 7? Thank you so much,
    Ben
