  • I forgot to say that you find the options “luma matte” / “alpha matte” in the part of the timeline overwritten with “TrkMatte”.
    Sorry!

  • I hope, this is understandable – my english could be better.

Try this: create a new comp “TEXT”. Create your text in it, that means for every appearance you create another layer, and one layer follows the other in time. The kind of transition is up to your imagination.
Create another comp and place your composition with the smoke in it, which is your bottom layer in this comp now. On top of this layer place an adjustment layer. Next drag and drop the text-comp on top of this comp. Locate your adjustment layer again and choose “luma matte” or “alpha matte”, so your text layer commands your adjustment layer

  • What about a shortcut for “go to last frame viewed in timeline?” Sort of CTRL-Z for the timeline cursor?

[The Gare] “When I say “missing frames” I mean it has a “stuttered” look like there are frames missing on playback. And how do I remove the pull down before bringing it in to AE? I never thought of that. I know the AG100A does 24P, but it does a conversion in camera that is really 29.97 correct? Should my AE comp setings be 24 frames, or 23.97?

My PPro settings are the default project setting of Panasonic 24P, 48Khz. Nothing special. I will have to check my export saetings now. I thought the MS DV was uncompressed. If it is not, then I have a quite a few clips I would have to re-export.”

You will have to. DV compresses aprox. 1:5.
Check that out: drag an imported piece of footage from your camera (not from Ppro) into the timeline of AE. The result should be steady, not “stuttered”. If you use 24p in your footage, you should interprete it like that. If you have to convert it to an NTSC-Comp, the 0.97 frames are your problem. So export it from PPro in 24p, import it in AE as 24p and drop it in an NTSC-Comp.

You can change AE interpreting footage using CTRL-F, that openes the settings.

And look at your export settings. If there

The motion tracker has an own window. Look under “Windows” “Tracking” (or similar, “Tracking controls”? I

Usually there is no part in the footage, which lasts for the whole shot. So I would divide the shot in several parts, apply the motion tracker “Stabilize” on the y-axis of the footage. Fast but not furious 🙂

[flector] “the solid still follows the path but won’t change perspective, it stays 2D,”

the problem is that paths are 2D and stay 2D… Is your path a motion path? Did you change the layers orientation? Did you check the “3D”-Button for the layer? If yes and your path stays flat, try moving a camera instead of the layer. Keep the footage layer 2D so it
