    October 26, 2006 at 6:00 pm in reply to: iFinish v80 4.6 into a HP xw6200 possible?

I had a friend with iFinish, he tried to upgrade his pc with iFinish and attempted to get an HP (an xw4200 i believe) and run iFinish. The software seemed to install fine, board passed diags, but he could not get any video playback on his desk-top. He was able to play out to his video monitor, but not to his desk top…

If I were you and NEEDED a solution that will definately work, I’d get the last approved machine if I could get my hands on it.

Or cross over to a G4 (or one of the new mac media 100s).

You would need to get an analog to SDI converter as HD Suite only inputs SDI. AJA makes those as well.

You would also need to find analog audio to Digital Audio converter, as HD Suite only inputs AES/EBU audio (or embedded SDI audio).

I don’t think M100 has approved Producer on the Mac Pro. It’s still a Power PC application and would need run under Rosetta with unknown results.

CDW still has Quad G5’s in stock, here’s a Link:

try trashing your comm.media100.media100hd.plist file which is in the same folder as your media 100 preferences
    (mac HD>users>username>Library>preferences).

(this will be recreated by the OS the next time you go to open/save/import/export something in Media 100 HD)

could be a dirty power system. I’m not an electrician by any means, but I’ve heard that electrical supplies can introduce noise into eletronic systems. Is ALL your equipment on the same electrical circuit, If maybe not try to get everying that connects to your Mac on the same circuit (Decks, monitors, mixers etc) so that they are on the same eletrical cycle?

Maybe a dying power supply unit in your G4, have you tried another G4 (if you have access to one?)

you may also find that on the mac-intal macbook that producer is dropping frames, which would be unacceptable for mastering to tape.

October 10, 2006 at 6:15 pm in reply to: Final Effects Complete UPDATE….

I just tried this on my mac, from the trial version download. When the installer could not find AE 6.5, it asked me to find it and poped up a mac finder window.

Not sure why it’s not giving you the same option

read your licence agreement, RED is non-transferable… so who ever buys that from you cannot upgrade it. Doesn’t seem terribly fair to me.
